Arshavin Move Off

arshavin.jpg
The Russian playmaker will not be moving to the Lane this summer

Tottenham have cancelled the Andrey Arshavin transfer for Chelsea to Tottenham after the midfielder’s work permit appeal was turned down. Tottenham will now have to look else where and it is thought that manager Robbie Campbell is looking at several players including Real Madrid’s Arjen Robben. However sources close to Spurs have been able to confirm that the club has been in touch with Bolton about the possibility of bringing striker Nicolas Anelka, to White Hart Lane. Anelka scored 20 Premier League goals for Wanderers last season. It is also apparent that Campbell, the Spurs boss is looking at the possibility of bringing Jo to North London from CSKA Moscow on loan until January.

Well Arshavin could have been a good signing for Spurs but he must be in the early thirties now. so good he is not coming

Kehl in Tottenham U-Turn

SebastianKehl4.jpg
Kehl is a well established member of the national side

German defensive midfielder Sebastian Kehl has signed a two-year contract for an undisclosed fee at Tottenham Hotspur today. Kehl had originally turned down the chance to join Spurs after failing to agree on personal terms. However, it is understood that Spurs made an improved offer in which Kehl reluctantly accepted. It is the first Chelsea player that Robbie Campbell has brought to the club which has surprised many people considering how well thought of he is throughout the Blues’ squad. It has also been rumoured that Campbell would like to bring in two or three players that he signed whilst managing Chelsea (to add to Sebastian Kehl) such as Vagner Love, Eidur Gudjohnsen and Adrian. It is also thought that Campbell has stopped monitoring Real’s Arjen Robben after he was injured in pre-season.

Heskey has vital experience when it comes to the Premier League

Former England international Emile Heskey has joined Spurs on a two-year contract from recently relegated Wigan Athletic. Spurs will be the 5th Premier League club he has played for, along with Leicester, Liverpool, Birmingham and Wigan. Heskey told BBC Sport that his main reason for joining Spurs was the chance to play European football which he just “couldn’t turn down.” Heskey also commented that even though he is thirty-three years of age, he is still looking to break into the England team once again.

Wow too good experience signings by Spurs..Hesky and Anelka are mostly of the same type though

Preston North End 1-3 Tottenham Hotspur
Premier League
Matchday 1

berbatov.jpg
Berbatov was on form today

In a highly entertaining match at Deepdale, Spurs came from 1-0 down to win 3-1. Preston looked like the better side in the first half with many chances troubling the Spurs defence, and eventually in the 25th minute their dominance payed off when Jarvis played through Hayter who drove the ball into the corner of the net to make it 1-0. Robbie Campbell then took off Kehl and brought on Anelka. Tottenham continued to be second best throughout the first half however they went into the break at 1-1 after Dimitar Berbatov broke free of the North End defence and slotted the ball past the keeper with ease in the 38th minute. Within two minutes of the restart Spurs were under pressure when Paul McKenna passed to Darren Carter who took a chance on a long range effort which cannoned onto the top right hand corner of the bar. Spurs were in real trouble. Manager Robbie Campbell needed to do something so he responded by bringing on new signing Nihat. Spurs played fluent football throughout the rest of the half and on the 59th minute mark Gareth Bale’s corner met the head of Nihat who grabbed a goal back for Spurs, a perfect start to his Tottenham career. It was 2-1 to Spurs and there was everything to play for. There was more persistent pressure from the Tottenham strikers in the next half-an-hour and Dimitar Berbatov added a third in the 90th minute. Spurs won the match in style and their travelling fans went home happy after their side grabbed all three points.
