1) you stated you don't know miggs as its not mentioned in wiki link.
2) Now you said you read book & you are claiming senator has peripheral role over miggs.

No. I said that Senator Martin isn't any more peripheral than Miggs. Different.

In my opinion arguing about the character and whether they would be in the game or not is totally pointless. If I've claimed them they clearly are in the game, in a role sent out by Varun.
It's either true or a fake claim but it's just ridiculous to focus on whether they'd be in the game or not.

I would like to make it clear, it's not senator that I have issue with. It doesn't really make any difference if even agent Burrough or terry is in game.

This is where you're not making sense. As I've said several times you can't always find roles that "fit" a theme so you get a bit creative.
Your basic argument here seems to be your character isn't important enough to have a role which is total nonsense as we only have one person claiming vanilla. We have no idea what roles are in the game and how many vanillas there are. As I already said too; it's not a classic C7 game.
Of course I used wikipedia to try and find Miggs as I didn't remember who they were. Whilst I've both read the books as well as seen the film that was a while ago so clearly I can't remember every character. It's just common sense to look things up.
You also appear to be shifting your arguments. Before you said that my claim was unlikely because such a minor character wouldn't be in the game and now you're saying they would be in the game but they wouldn't have a role or if they did it wouldn't be that role. Whatever.
I am keeping an eye on the fact you had no questions about thedon's claim and if one of you turns up mafia I'll know who to look at next.

No that's not what I said - being very clear, 'minor role(related to theme) can't have such a big power'. You derived it from generic senator definition & built a fantasy power.

My further assessments that I didn't bring up till now(as I wanted to clear out one by one) & that's main reason I requested Varun to extend the timeline,

1) your words of 'if cop wants let them investigate' indicates - you are sure that you will show up as town in cop investigation. Meaning & correlating from theme, you are Bill and only way to reach you is we need to find Lecter. Lecter is lawyer here and have potential of disclosing the information if he is challenged( bringing him close to hammer, probably? ). So until that, you are safe.

2) yours words of 'its upto town or mafia to keep you alive' was intentionally done to divert the focus of high power role to stay till the end indirectly with doc expected to be on you and hence you don't have any issues in killing town one by one in night. No ambiguity will exist as you would be sure that doc is likely on you for being a president.

This makes sense as Lecter doesn't disclose the info on Bill that easily. He discloses only to Senator & Clarice. So Lecter being protective of Bill, should be relating to he being lawyer in this.

Can you go into "fantasy power" there?
Governor is a role I know but I wouldn't have chosen it nor would I have claimed on day 1 unless I thought that was the best way to play the role I was given. Ergo if I wasn't governor and was mafia I would keeping quiet and hoping no-one noticed me.
I've made a very visible claim early and clearly if my role wasn't governor that would have been a foolish thing to do.

You've also lost me a bit (a lot) with the way to find Bill is to find Lector first. That seems like an unnecessarily complicated device that might be true of the book/film but I don't see how it would work for a mafia game.

What is your view on the claim & happenings of town until now? You two are very silent. I know PS brought a valid point on Varun's own definition of set up on purpose, but I would like to hear more on how genuine you treat this claim to be?

Only way I think at this moment - when the town brings Lecter close to hammer or hammered, probably Lecter would pass on the info to clarice or town.

So anyway in light of your comments I watched the film again to try and understand my character better.
Senator Martin is the character who proposes the deal with Lector. Transfer, one week a year at Plum Island etc. That definitely qualifies as power.
It also, in my opinion, fits in with the idea of reprieving someone which is what the governor role is all about...

Only thing that is stopping me from confirming you 100% is Varun. Really thinking 1000 times whether Varun has customized the theme for his own comfort zone. Looking at my role & Don's claim & Sulaiman's mention of Barney - my gut feeling says I have caught you as Varun's set up is on track with the theme.

Guys, I would need others to jump in with the opinions too. Should we go to night phase with our assumptions open?

If we are entering night, I don't think I will survive the night if I am not coming out. I want to come out, I am the cop - Ms Clarice Starling. It was evident from the way I was chasing Colin. At this moment, I feel Colin is false claiming with imaginative power claim for an insignificant role. He is Mr Bill to my eyes, want to hear the feedback from others. All his behavior(posts) were clear in making attempt to us to believe that president obviously have higher hand but unfortunately he carelessly made the build up without knowing the actual role of senator in the theme - that really revealed the colors inside. His last 3 posts were typical mafia behavior in watching the movie & trying to justify his imaginative power.

What say guys? Should we leave these assumptions open? I really don't want to go to night as we have never had productive day 1 like this to my knowledge.

Thought I'd hide my identity and investigate Surender in the night phase but it'd be a sheer waste if they target me and the doc(I hope there's one in the game) will save him taking in the fact that there wasn't any counterclaim. If there's no Doc, I'm still up for sacrificing. We can at least have one mafia member lynched so the sacrifice should be worth it.
