OD: Ruff_Ryders919 vs. Spinners United @ Ruff_Ryders919 CG
The Ryders have been a low lying team in the league, always doing better than the bottom teams but never challenging the teams above. Spinners United come into this game resting a couple of players, although Marsden does return, which should be an interesting prospect. They will be looking for a good win after their loss in FC yesterday.
SUCC XI: Marsden*, Chinthaka, Chuguel, Challinor, Bradshaw, Riaan, Machemko, Pead+, Nedd, Slaytor, Levy
Changes from regular XI: Eagles out, Marsden in. Mccormick out, Chuguel in. Cronin out, Levy in.
Match Report
Spinners United elected to bat on a dusty pitch with revenge for their FC loss on their mind. Their intentions were signalled early, as Marsden and Chinthaka cam out all guns blazing. The opening bowlers, Rice and Mcaliskey, were smashed to all parts of the ground thanks to some breathtaking batting.
Both batsmen reached 50s and then 100s as the score continued to increase. Sterling took a lot of the flak, whilst Benjamin was the only bowler who seemed to peg down the batsmen.
Chinthaka did fall for 111 runs off 128 balls, including 4 fours and 4 sixes. He was bowled by Benjamin, ending the 263 run opening partnership.
Chuguel disappointed at 3, being the second victim of Benjamin for only 14, bringing Challinor in for the last few overs at 283/2.
Marsden continued to blaze a trail alongside Challinor and managed to bring United up to an impressive 337/2 off their 50 overs. Challinor added 22, but the star was Marsden who scored a new personal high score of 184* off only 145 balls with 17 fours and 2 sixes. An exceptional batting performance.
A deflated Ryders team came out to bat needing nothing short of a miracle to win the match and the openers provided some pleasure. Bignot and Dyke both scored at a decent rate for a 77 run partnership before Machemko came in to take the wicket of Dyke for 36.
Bignot continued to bat well with Wilson until he was eventually out for 62, having been caught off Nedd at Cover. Wilson took over from Bignot and started to wrack up the runs.
Unfortunately men fell around him, Slaytor took Mapes for 17 and Nedd took Benjamin for 15.
But Bennett and Wilson came together to put on 102 runs together in a great partnership which made the Ryders feel that there was a possibility of victory.
Wilson got out to Riaan though for 95 and from then on it was downhill for Ryders. For United it was a great success though, as Riaan took a hattrick to remove Wilson and then Sterling and Mcalisky in consecutive balls and all by LBW.
Riaan wasn't finished though, he came back and took another hattrick to finish the innings. Rice, Benjamin and Buckle the 3 victims after a great performance from Riaan, finishing with figures of 6/63 as well as his 2 hattricks.
Out of the other bowlers, Nedd tooke a good 2/59, Machemko got 1/64, Slaytor was economical with 1/33 and Levy disappointed with 0/70.
Overall a good performance for United and an important win.

6. LMCHC 16pts

7. M.J.B. 8pts
8. South Shore CC 0pts
The big result of the week was Largs defeating Painkillers in a top 2 clash which brings Largs, Painkillers and Spinners all into the fram for first place, separated only on NRR. Spinners United and PainKillers still have to meet at the Spin Arena in what could become a league decider on the last day of the season. Starvin Marvins failed to open the gap on Ruff Ryders after a shock loss to LMCHC, both teams could still find themselves in the relegation play-offs. That result does not help MJB who, having been a top team for many seasons, now are battling to avoid automatic relegation. They got just their 2nd win of the season over South Shore, who are virtually guarenteed relegation now with just 4 games left.
FC League Standings (V.45)
1. Unreal Madrid 175pts
-------------------------------------
2. Heman 5000 160pts
3. Spinners United 158pts
4. Glamorgan Dragons 120pts
-------------------------------------
5. Surrey Sods 87pts
6. BHA Allstars 80pts
7. Shipley Batters 62pts
8. Wormley CCC 53pts
Spinners United's loss to Heman was a key result, allowing Unreal Madrid to open up the gap at the top of the table, although it is still close. Madrid beat the Sods by 864 runs this week.
Glamorgan Dragons failed to give themselves some breathing space from relegation after drawing with Wormley CCC. BHA and Shipley shared an almost meaningless draw as they are both likely to face relegation. The key match is in 2 weeks, Unreal Madrid at home to Spinners United. The 27 point gap between the 2 teams could be geatly reduced by a strong United performance and they will fight it out.
