Story The TT Lion's Journey, the "Original" Battrick Story.

1.6 4 Atkinson to Wilkinson
Worked to fine leg, a misfield brings four.

2.2 4 Deane to Villiers
Opens the shoulders and cuts well to deep backwards square.

.6 4 Deane to Wilkinson
Waits and runs it away to third man.

A good start by the Old Wulfs openers....

7.1 6 Atkinson to Villiers
That shot was straight from the school of W G Grace, an humongous strike for six runs.

8.1 4 Deane to Wilkinson
Pulled hard between midwicket and square leg.

8.6 4 Deane to Wilkinson
solid cover drive past a diving extra cover

The runs start to flow freely...

11.5 1 Drayton to Wilkinson
on the front foot, pushed to the on

11.4 4 Drayton to Wilkinson
He seems to be batting by numbers. We?ll have a four this time please!!!

11.3 6 Drayton to Wilkinson
New balls please!! That ball has been hit to Wimbledon.

Wilkinson gets stuck in...

41.6 1 Gamble to Purse
He?s just plonked that into the gap, nice intelligent cricket.
41.5 2 Gamble to Purse
driven to deep cover for two
41.4 2 Gamble to Purse
thick edge past where fourth slip would be, two easy runs
41.3 4 Gamble to Purse
nicely worked around the legs to a vacant deep fine leg boundary
41.2 1 Gamble to Haughton
forward, played out to mid on for the single

The batsmen take account of the situation - low run rate, but plenty of wickets in hand. Get in there!

The run rate is climbing. 210-215 is likely. And on this wicket, we may be in trouble(not that we were gonna run away with this or anything).

End of Over 43: 165-3, runrate=3.84
Atkinson 7-0-37-0
Purse* 26 (39 balls)
Haughton 19 (23 balls)

Atkinson has dissapointed.

Go Atkinson :)

44.6 W Atkinson to Haughton
caught in two minds, Haughton lobs the ball straight back into Atkinson's hands

Crouch back into the attack. Lets see how he handles it.

The wickets tumble...

End of Over 45: 177-4, runrate=3.93
Atkinson 8-0-44-1
Purse* 35 (46 balls)
Henshaw 0 (0 balls)

45.3 W Crouch to Henshaw
big nick and an easy catch for Bryant

Bryant has done a fairly good job behind the stumps.

45.5 4 Crouch to Purse
Crouch has his head in his hands after Purse finds the boundary yet again, punishing a short ball.
45.4 1 Crouch to Fieldwick
gently guided down to 3rd man for the single, Drayton running in to field
45.2 1 Crouch to Purse
Runs it away fine past mid-on for a single
45.1 4 Crouch to Purse
nicely picked up off the toes to a vacant deep bwd sq leg boundary

Expensive start by Crouch...

...But he snares two wickets off the over nonetheless :)

45.6 W Crouch to Purse
plays all round a straight one and is plumb in front
Purse played well for his 44.

End of Over 46: 187-6, runrate=4.07
Crouch 8-1-33-2
Fieldwick* 1 (1 balls)
Mcclen 0 (0 balls)

If we can keep them below 210, it should be chasable.

Runs are more important than wickets now, as long as we bat out the 50 overs and get about 220 I'll be reasonably happy. My opening bowlers are in great form.

Yet another one falls...could we bundle them out for below 200?

46.2 W Atkinson to Fieldwick
caught in two minds, Fieldwick lobs the ball straight back into Atkinson's hands

I doubt you'll last the full 50...

46.5 W Atkinson to Mcclen
Huge shout for LBW and it's given! Replays are suggesting that was missing leg stump, that one's gone Atkinsons way!

End of Over 47: 189-8, runrate=4.02
Atkinson 9-0-46-3
Otto* 1 (1 balls)
Bowditch 1 (2 balls)

47.1 W Crouch to Otto
a big lunge forward and the ball catches the edge before striking the pad and its an easy catch for Greenwood

Thats it, its all over.

47.4 W Crouch to Oleary
Great reaction catch by Bryant, taking ball flicked down leg side at full stretch

End of Over 48: 189-10, runrate=3.94
Crouch 8-2-33-4
Bowditch* 1 (2 balls)

Crouch skittling through your lower order. 190 to win. Chasable. I hope the openers get off to their usual start :upray

Good start but a dissapointing end. Our bowlers definately have the ability to bowl you out, but will they? Place bets now.

I think they will. However, both my openers are averaging over 100...:p...

I still think your favourites to win. Crouch and Gamble exceeded expectations today. Don't normally expect them to perform as well as they did.
