Lancashire Lightenings Vs Kent Spitfires
Auckland.

Hello and welcome to Auckland for Game 4 of the VB World Club Championship between Lancashire Lightenings and Kent Spitfires. The conditions are perfect for cricket with a clear sky and absolutely glorius temparature. The pitch is flat and true, promising a truckload of runs.

Robert Key, the Kent Skipper won the toss and strangely invited Lancashire to bat first.

Thats a pretty decent score by Lancashire. Excellent opening partnership between Law and Sutcliffe, and good hard hitting cricket in the end thanks to Freddie, Chilton and Crook.

We have excellent cricketing conditions here with a clear sky and mild temparature. We have another game today at Christchurch, that is between the Rawalpindi Rams and Sinhalese Cricket Club. That match, however is not being covered LIVE. We will bring updates on time to time basis. We will be back after these commercials for the pitch report and toss. Stay with us!

Pitch Report with Dean Jones

Dean Jones: Hello and welcome to Auckland. Great conditions for cricket today! Let us take a look at the pitch....This is a absolute viper. Its green and will certainly aid the bowlers with the offer of pace, bounce, swing and seam. The batsmen's life will be difficult and remember what Ganapathy did to the Guyanese on gameday one. That was a green belt not unlike this. Win the toss and bowl first.

The Toss

Dean Jones: OK! Its time for the toss and joining me are the two captains, Heath Streak of Mashonaland and Scott Styris of Northern Districts. Scotty, do the honours.

Streaky, you have won the toss. What are you going to do?

Streak: We will field. The pitch is true and is green. We have some quality quicks with us so we want to make the best use of the condiditions.

Dean Jones: Ok! Streakers, good luck to you and the team. Styris, tough luck.

Styris: Yes Deano. I would have fielded first, but we have no regrets. We any have to bat on this track. There is no running away.

Dean Jones: Good luck to you mate! Well, the news from the centre is Mashonaland have won the toss and will field first. Over to you Ian.

Northern Districts start steadily!

The Northern Districts openers James Marshall and Horsley did survive few sacres due to the responsive grren turf, but then settled well to chalk a steady opening partnership. Marshall was the aggressor cutting and driving the opening bowlers. He was especially tough towards Streak, who squared him up with a beauty first up.

First strike to Mashonaland!

Mashonaland drew first blood, when Horsley tried to punch Hondo off the back foot over mid on, which was caught by a diving Carlisle who covered atleast 15 yards to his left. The Northern Districts are 42/1 in 8 overs.

Streak, who was being subject to some solid hitting by James marshall, replaced himself with Arnoldus Blignau in the 9th over. Hamish Marshall, James' identical twin is the new batsman in.

10 overs update!

The Northern Districts have progressed steadily and are at 59/1 in 10 overs. Hamish and James Marshall are looking settled in the middle.

The Mashonaland bowlers did have their moments in the responsive green top but the batsmen have applied themselves well to the task at hand.

The Marshalls have quickly set upon themselves to construct a solid partnership. Hamish was severe on Hondo hitting the first ball he faced to the square boundary. He followed it up with a rasping straight drive of Blignaut.

James Marshall Falls!

The move in bringing on Blignaut payed of royally, as he snared the set James Marshall after testing him with his accurate bowling. Marshall was lucky not to drag a inswinger on to his stumps.

but his luck ran out and when he edged a superb away swinger, Gary Barrett took a screamer in the slips. Styris is the new man in as the Northern Districts are 2/74 .

Blignaut continued to torment the batsmen as he struck a vicious blow th Hamish Marshall, leaving him gasping for breath!
