Wales go solo
Paul Russell, the Chairman of Glamorgan CCC has decided to break away from the ECB and form Cricket Wales to take over the governing of cricket in Wales from the CBW. Wales have been invited to play test match cricket by the ICC, much to the annoyance of Cricket Ireland and due to their admission to the highest level of international cricket they have agreed to form a national One-Day competition called "The Warburtons Welsh Challenge" to nurture talented young players in the country.
All welsh players that have played international cricket for another nation have the chance to change their allegiance to the welsh national team until the beginning of the national league. Simon Jones is one of the players that has expressed their desire to represent their homeland and Jones was very enthusiastic about the future of welsh cricket, "I think we are ready to show the world what we can do with a bat and a ball...game on!"
The progress of welsh cricket will be heavily scrutinised in the coming years by all cricket fans...
