This forum is dieing

All the new ones who you don't see posting in text talk? It'll be impossible to give examples as you can't see all the deleted posts and the, obviously private, infractions and conservations between staff and members.

Of course we cannot read everything and some stuff will get through, but if you report it, we will deal with it.

I've often wondered whether a sticky thread on a "Guide to good English" would be useful.

Bring in the auto correct mod. But anyway hard to blame those kids though, it's etched into their tech use.

Why not? You never know, the kids might learn something. ;)

They don't read the rules, they're surely going to read that :rolleyes

If there exists a mod of this kind, it'll be the best possible implementation to tackle the problem.

It's there for the spoilers now. They might as well add up those txt spk words and add replacements to them.

I wouldn't like an auto correct mod. Then no one would care about writing proper english.

A guide would be fine though and we could let other members ask their queries about grammar and other essential stuff there.

I'm not sure if a guide would really be helpful. Some members here just don't make any effort to improve their grammar. If they don't care to improve their grammar, I don't think they will even bother read the guide.

As Chewie said, just as some don't care to read the rules, why would they even read the guide. People visit the forums for discussing cricket and not to learn English.

Just leave everything as it is or if something is to be done, the auto correct mod is the solution.

But it is rather ironical that members with poor grammar who have been here for a long time aren't really that active in the cricket discussion forum. Dhonisingh, Bilalshuja would be a few examples, though they're banned now.

the auto correct mod is the solution.

IMO, an auto correct mod would represent something that won't 'improve' your english in real but just for the forum purpose which I feel is hypocrisy.

I wouldn't mind that. The site is not an English teaching institute and nobody gives a damn to a person's language in real life. All that is needed is proper grammar on the forums. Remember, you cannot judge a person's real life personality based on his English speaking skills so it doesn't really bother me if a guy doesn't known proper grammar or has the habit of using 'Txt spk' in real life but has perfectly written posts on the forum.

The only draw-back of an auto correct mod could be that if it's not perfect in analyzing the sentences or the words, it may change the meaning of a sentence while correcting it.

But if people dont want to improve their grammar theirselves, then how will be a hypocrisy? it is for the betterment of the forum to us auto mods
