Bad luck Tom... A duck.. Down to 2nd XI for you! :p :D

I still have one more innings to bowl. Perhaps I can do something special then.

My first exam is tomorrow, so I won't be updating till probably the weekend. Just keep posting your comments guys as they are really appreciated. :)

Sad to see Tom getting out for a duck :( but still he has to perform with the bowl so be confident now. The lower order should score some useful runs for Kent. All the best with the ball Tom :thumbs. Great story and well presented :)

Saturday 29th March

We were in big trouble. We had lost all our batsmen and we were now into the bowlers with only a lead of 177 runs. We all sat on the balcony praying for some rain, but the sky remained cloud free. We were trying to get Andy to do a South African rain-dance but it didn't work, but it did cheer us up laughing at him :p

But on a more serious note things weren't going too well. Jimmy and Cooky had a brief flurry of runs really attacking the bowlers. Eventually Jimmy tried one big shot too mnay, and edged to slip. He had scored 25 runs and they had been very important, but it still wasn't enough. With him gone only Martin and Sheriy were left now.

Martin didn't hang around for long either. Attempting to sweep, he top edged it to Trott at short fine-leg. There was only 1 wicket remaining now and we weren't expecting any miracles.

I lent over to talk to Andy and Darren:
"I'd say we're boned. Don't think we're going to win this now. I would take a draw."

"Yeah, we just collapsed out there. Our batting has been very weak this season."
"Yeah, no-one has really made a big score except David. There's pressure on all of us."

There was however no pressure on Cooky and Sheriy out there. Sheriy's batting abilities are let's say, limited, and Cooky can strike the ball but isn't one for making massive socres. They were however playing for time now, so we didn't care what the score was. The minutes kept slipping by and no wicket had fallen. A partnership was beginning to build. They had put on 36 runs so far with Cooky hitting a few boundaries. The crowd began to cheer up and back in the pavillion the team also began to pick up. How were these two surviving, when the real batsmen had been brushed aside?

We couldn't believe our eyes. These two were actually putting together a decent partnership. Cooky was batting superbly out there. He was scoring runs of the first 4 balls and then rotating the strike so Sheriy was barely ever facing.

He eventually reached his 50:eek: We all went wild up on the balcony, cheering and clapping him. He had done a really impressive job. He was actually building us a lead, and all this time we were resisitng meant less time Warwickshire could bat. Cooky's 50 came of 50 balls, so a pretty good strike-rate ;)

And they still kept going. Eventually the drinks break was called with the partnership on 72. I ran out there to give some "new gloves:p" to Cooky with a message.
"Hey you guys. You two are getting free drinks on us tonight in the club bar. The skip is really pleased. He just wants you to make it to the end of the day."
Cooky was looking a bit tired now

"Ok, but you tell them, I want a pint of Flowers, none of this weak lager, you boy's drink"

As I jogged back to the pavillion, I noticed how cheerful the crowd was. There was quite a few now, as people turned up after school and work, and the atmosphere was pretty good.

Warwickshire were trying everything to get rid of these two. Eventually it was nearing 6 and the end of the day's play. Cooky knocked the ball into a gap for a single, and the 100 partnership had been reached. They had just made history for Kent as no-one had ever had such a high last-wicket stand. We once again got very excited and a few beers were cracked open. These however were conviscated by the skip as he reminded us we still had another day's worth of play ahead of us and he didn't want people bowling with hang-overs. :p

Eventually it reached quarter to, and now there was no chance of Warwickshire batting today. Cooky seemed to have realised this and began to slog out to try and get as many runs as possible. It paid as he missed one from Giles and was clean bowled for 73. He was cheered of by the crowd, acknowlodging the balcony with his bat. Even the Warwickshire boys clapped him, with Giles and Streak shaking his hand. He had saved us there as those 73 runs would be vital if we were to defend our lead.

We were all out for 331. It had looked very bleak for us at one stage but it had turned into a very good innings. We actually had a chance in this game.

We had a lead of 304 runs. Warwickshire could still make that total, but it would be close. Tomorrow was going to be an interesting day.

Everyone met up in the club bar about an hour after play finished. The skip put a limit of one and a half pints per person. We all had a good time, playing some pool, darts and just chatting about life. I stayed long enough for the cooks to bring us all out dinner of Lasagne, and veg. It was a great evening just sitting there chatting to my mates.

At eight I said my goodbyes and headed home. By the time I was home it was half-past. I checked my answer machine. There was one from the council saying that I had a speeding ticket from this morning's exploits. I had gone 55 in a 30 . I was to go to a hearing in two days time. If I lost I could lose my license and be put in jail for 6 months. I quickly phoned up the skip who contacted the club's lawyers. He arranged to meet me tomorrow after the match. It was a rubbish endng to a good evening.

Great graphics and good presentation. Is this Cricket 2007? (I don't have it, so I'm just wondering)

Ah, I see. You seem to get better resolution and graphic detail than I do on my laptop.

Great batting from Cooky there! Has given Kent a great chance of winning this match! COME ON KENT! :)

i really hope this story wins story of the month great update Tom and great battin from Cooky unlucky about the speeding ticket though!

Extremely good batting by Cooky. Would liked to see him get a ton but 73 is still a fantastic effort. Sad thing is, that was the second biggest partnership of the innings. I think you can win the game now. Good luck in court ;)
