Tournment Ends

That was a great innings by Sanga, the bowlers looked clueless against him. Same for Gambhir, amazing innings, methinks he is a good candidate for the best batsman across all forms thread.

After yesterday's performance, Dhoni should persist with Ishant for the next game too. His spell was splendid to Jayasuriya and Dilshan, both being among the most dangerous hitters in the world ATM. Troubled them most often while Nehra was generous at the other end (5 fours in one over). If Sree is fit, bring him back for Nehra and pick Ashwin for Yusuf.

Quite true. 55 runs off 26 balls without a single six! Gambhir has become a lynchpin for India.

From the start of Sangakkara's innings he looked in good shape. He was hitting the ball cleanly and just looking for the gaps. He didn't try anything unusual. Just a great captains knock. He really would have wanted to prove something after his failures in the first 2 test matches.

Nehra was just caned in the innings. For two overs, he can 4 or more fours in that over. The runs that he scored in the end, were of no use. That shouldnt make people retain him in the team. Those were fluke runs.

Ishant was the worst in fielding yesterday. Two dropped catches (one of his own bowling) and a missed runout. We really need a fielding coach. These guys can field. They just need to be thought some basics and techniques.

Malinga and Fernando looked really out of sorts tbh. Either too full and wide or too short for the pitch

No one is to blame really. It was Kumar Sangakkara's day. India were off to a great start, 17/0 in 4 overs, and Ishant almost opened the lock, sending few chances of catches to fielders and himself, but they dropped the key. Then Nehra's good bowling went in vain when (always, of course!) Jayasuriya hit 5 boundaries in an over. That set up a base i think, and the pitch saw no unusual deviations, bounce. Sangakkara and Kapugedara, well, brilliant batting. Dhoni was actually 'thinking' to place the fielders where, Followed up by Mathews, giving a quick boost of 15 runs off 4 balls.

What hurt India is the Fielding, considering nothing else. They stopped the balls brilliantly, but they were doing something wrong, they dropped the catches instead. 5 to be precise, all off the batsmen who scored, If the catches were held, probably India could have won a close game.

Talking about The Indian batting, RR of 11 per over was no real deal when Sehwag was there, and he was trying too hard, right from the first ball, but managed to click in few powerful shots but that was it, hard time, He's gotta be and gonna be more relaxed the next game, like he's in the Tests. Because he's just stiffing himself up to the 'T20' pressure.

No words for Gambhir, Unlucky he went out for an unfortunate shot but was just magic on the field, I mean, where the hell can you keep a field for him? He's pierced all boundaries through 3-5 fielders at times, hitting them in rows. 44 off his 55 were off boundaries, amazing knock and that's also the Second fastest fifty in T20. (Yuvraj is the man at the top. :D) An excellent setup, india were 88 in 7 overs, and hardly should have they missed the chance when it came down to 9 per over! But Jayasuriya, The Indians might consider giving extra care while batting against him. Too many wickets going for the slogs when they could really cut them down for easy boundaries (reminds me of "We all fall down" the kids in the block shout.).

It was that day when things were all right, Almost everyone who came close or passed 50 runs set records for T20. India had the taste of win but they lost it when they did their often great fall.

Great match, So Sri lanka can't lose this series, good. :D There's only one thing that they want to put as the last thing on their minds, India winning the next match! :D

Agree with this, in general (I didn't watch the match). Sehwag is way too aggressive in ODIs and T20s. He's shown in Tests (although the fields are a bit more aggressive) that he can score runs quickly without taking too many risks. Of course, T20 doesn't really afford you too much time to settle in, but I certainly hope that he changes the way he has played in the past in ODIs!

Not only sehwag the whole team tried hitting the ball so hard as if they wanted to just break it... Dhoni for his singles to came down the track hit's it then...

But for me.. The Only + point is Gambhir's knock and Ishant's Spell

it's ironic that sehwag has a test mode and a limited over mode like every other player when his test mode is perhaps faster than some players ODI mode.

but he does, and actually I think more than most he struggles to change. His best ODI form was that patch before the tests in NZ and he totally failed there. He hasn't been in good limited over form for a while but looks back in form in the tests.

If Sehwag bats at his test pace, he does really fine. Its when he tries to forcefully be aggressive that he fails. He needs to adopt his 'tests method' in ODI's and T20's. If he can score at 100+ SR, he should really do fine (he can score at approx. 2 runs every ball at his regular style).

I was surprised to see Yusuf Pathan :p He was out of form & he need to get the momentum back. Raina should have been in No 3. I don't see any sense in sending Raina so down in the order. It's just of no use.

Though score looks 180+, we were in pathetic situation. Yes, one of the bad times in batting, so lets forget it. :p Anyways, T20 doesn't reflect cricket brains --> No matter who wins and who looses.
