Twenty20 commentary and telecast quality discussion thread

Added Kepler Wessels and Michael Slater to the list.

Either Atherton or Hussain really messed up last night in the Aussie Vs Zimba game. Kept names wrong and when Australia lost their 9th wicket he said "Australia all out", and when they lost the 5th he only said "Australia are now 4/whatever". Wasnt a good night whoever it was. Bumble= Legend though.

Ah well, the list of commentators is right except for one msitake.

Micheal Artherton is not there.
The person you must have heard was Graham Gooch.
He did commentate in the Aus-Zim match.

ESPN has divided the 3 commentary teams
Group 1 leader-Harsha Bhogle
Group 2 leader-Alan Wilkins
Group 3 leader-Micheal Slater.

My fav so far has been Michela Slater.

The worst, well and I believe we msut write to ESS regd this-Ather Ali Khan ?
Well i'd ratehr name him Stutter Ali Khan and i hate him.
Wonder why they hired him-a person who doesnt even know when Duckworth Lewis is used.AA Khan thinks that D-L can be used in Test matches as well !
Shocking !

It wasnt Gooch, it was the guy commentating with Gooch. So it must have been Nasser. The woman commentator, not sure of her name is actually an alright commentator. Doesnt show any emotion when something happens though and tends to point out the real obvious things that have already been said. But she's doing a decent job imo.

Thanks Iceman Waugh. I removed Michael Atherton from the list. I myself didn't actually hear him commentate, but somebody else mentioned it in this thread, so I thought he was on for Sky Sports or I missed him or something.

I am reasonably happy with the broadcasting of the twenty20 cup. I love Bumble, his commentary as usual has been comedy and enlightening at the same time. Nasser Hussain is a bit slow and dull but makes up for it with insightful comments.

Ian Chappell is one I also like. Although starting every sentance with "Yes, err...", he is still a legend of the game. He airs his views well. Saying something so out of the mould like not agreeing with twenty20 specialists is always nice when generic commentators like that woman (don't know her name) are.

Pommie's interviews with the players are good too, who better to give views on the batting team than the batting team themselves.

As for the telecast quality: The overlay looks nice, the turquoise is nice and although a tad tacky, the 'Paul Collingwood, favourite shot - legside nurdle" is fine too and a bit funny.

I thought Paul Collingwood would say his favourite shot: "The FORWARD defensive" after he described himself as a "RIGHT ARM FAAST Bowler" in the India-England ODI series :p

I've been impressed with the ESPN coverage. Bumble's been fantastic, funny but insightful as usual, he just loves those dancers:p. I was quite suprised to see Gooch there. They're missing people like Holding (who's still being wasted on county cricket for sky!) and other recognised commentators. As I say though, I've been impressed with the coverage and its a nice overlay too!:p.

Yeah the "I'm ... and my favourite shot is..." is a good feature!

I thought sport was an excuse to get away from women so you hardly want to be listening to them :p That woman just seems to try really hard not to say anything wrong and it just comes across as a bit dull, I guess every commentator can't be a bumble though

Speaking of Bumble, I hope he will get to commentate with his hero Bill Lawry tomorrow. Lawry doesn't seem contracted to commentate on this tournament though so I doubt it would happen but it would be great (in theory of course).

Haha yeah i laughed at that. Also Freddie with his 'back foot punch' made me chuckle too.
