Twenty20 commentary and telecast quality discussion thread

(Regretfully), I added Ranjit Fernando to the list. I think I can stand Ranil Abeynayake but not Ranjit Fernando. He keeps crowing about Sri Lanka's greatness all the time. :p

Both are useless.
Even Rameez Raja keeps on talking about Pakistan's greatness.

Yes... gets pretty sickening at times. Especially when Sri Lanka are doing well.

I love it when Rameez Raja's face goes sad when Pakistan loses.

Channel 9 delayed the coverage of this game for 45 minutes. So alot of people would've missed the first 10 overs. Really dissapointing.

Atah Ali Khan is the worst. Hes givin me a headache.

He seems like he's just come out of a spoken-english course !
I'm writing to ESS and well, you can't just ask him to be dropped.
He's horrible.

Apart from him.

Well Micheal Slater seems to handle the 'host' position really well.
Infact,i believe he is better than Bhogle at this !

Athar Ali Khan makes some decent observations, but his intonation and accent are better. At least he's not as insufferable as Ranjeet Fernando and Rameez Raja...

Goochy should stick to coaching he's not the best commentator......Especially when he said England have no chance here next ball he says we have a chance of winning this?!

shashtri is quite good IMO ! neither excellent nor poor....his english is good
and has the experience too :)

harsha - Just One word = LOUD !

Gavaskar is slower than a snail :p
as harishankar said, the T20 would finish by the time he completes
a sentence.

Ian chappell - Egoistic SOB ! thats it ! :mad

David Lloyd - THE BEST in the current lot :D

Michael Holding / Ian Bishop - i'd take them anyday as i like the
west indian accent ;)

Rameez Raja - i would the same thing i did for shashtri.
good english and knows his stuff. needs a haircut though :p

Aamir Sohail - Poor English. The poorest of the lot. although
anyday better than Ian Chappell ! :boxing

anyways....has anyone heard the REAL INDIAN commentators ?? the
ones who appear on the Doordarshan Broadcast ! people like
Atul Wason, Anshuman Gaekwad, Gurpreet Singh, Nayan Mongia ,
Mohinder Amarnath , Anjum chopra etc....... OMG !! they are the WORST in
the world. plus, that FOURTH UMPIRE show really gets into my nerves !!

Why? Because he tells the truth?

I don't know why you think he s a "sob"? He is a great man of the game and knows his Cricket well.

His tone of voice is usually very self-assured and that comes across as egoistic sometimes. He makes good observations most of the time but they are usually obvious statements clothed in an air of wisdom to a discerning viewer who knows his/her cricket. Of course he speaks on the technical aspects of the game quite well and knows how to spot flaws in batting, bowling and fielding techniques.

And others don't? I don't think he states the obvious, he isn't bias. Where some other commentators do they things I just stated the Chappell does not.

I was talking only about Chappell. Not about others. I have only expressed my opinion about Chappell here without any reference to any other commentator.

Chappel is good commentator and knows the game very well, what annoys me most is the Indian Commentary :mad , i don't know how many of the indians here understand hindi (south indians). .but those who understand might agree. Kirti Azad should be sent to training school.

Yes Chappell is good.
You should try and listen to Sunil Gavaskar and Ian Chappell together. They give you fantastic details of the game.

As far as Kirti Azad is concerned.Well ESS simulcasts the matches on ESPN and Star Cricket.
ESPN-English commentary and comprises of ppl who are actually in SA
Star Cricket-Hindi commentary and ppl are based in the Singapore studio !
