Cricket's governing body has announced the first ever Twenty20 series
ICC announce first ever Twenty20 series
With the increasing popularity of Twenty20 matches, the ICC has scheduled the first international series in the format, to be played out by Australia and New Zealand.
"Most tours now include a Twenty20 international, but Australia and New Zealand will be playing three, which makes this unique" said a spokesman from the governing body.
The first match is in Melbourne, the second is in Brisbane and the third and final one is in Sydney. The first two are day/night games.
The hosts' captain, Ricky Ponting, is upbeat about the challenge ahead.
"New Zealand are an old emeny of ours and there will be no messing around here. There will be batting plans and bowling plans. No stone will be left unturned to make sure we beat them" he said.
