Yup its AE.
At begining Tooooooo much hard to understand. But once you know its basics no software can beat this in video editing.
I would recommend you to watch videos of Avnish Parker instead of watching basics videos or learn ae in 1 hour like that. These videos only waste our time and at end we get nothing.
Do intros by following Avnish. If got any error or problem you can pm me. (I am too still learning)
Tip : Download Cs6 instead of CC

I could recall similar situation from 2013 when I first time opened Photoshop and was like what the hell is this?

Well, try DaVinci Resolve once. Its really better than AE. Only thing is that its new so you would not get tutorials.
