Weird phobias

I don't know why people say fear of heights :p
I would say it more a fear of falling down from high ground. I am not frightened of heights but rather falling from those heights :spy
I think its called acrophobia.

Do you put corks in your ears at the Diwali festival :p
I'd lock myself up in my room and put in earphones (Ear bud type ones, which provide bass too) and listen to Linkin Park songs with full volume! Thats what i did since two years :yes.
And two years ago, Diwali was festival of nightmare for me personally (:p) :(. I use to cry sitting on someone's lap whenever a cracker explodes :(.

I fear heights. I sweat copiously and my head starts to swirl whenever I look down the balcony of any high apartment.

Like Binnu, even I have a phobia of sudden sounds. Those loud crackers tear my ears off.

I suffer from Cynophobia - the phobia of dogs. I love puppies, but am very scared of full grown dogs.

I actually had an extreme case of this until I was 16. I loved dogs, thought they were the coolest pets to own, but I had an extreme phobia of them. No real reason (I wasn't attacked or anything), but the mere sight of a dog, be it big or small, puppy or old, I would lose all colour from my skin and freeze.

And when I say sight, I mean them being all the way down the street and on a leash snoozing with their owners. It got to the point where it seriously affected my social life. I wouldn't dare walk past some houses, in case the dog who lived there suddenly came boudning out. I couldn't take the bus or tram to town just because a certain house would be on the way.

How did I get over it? Simple ofcourse - got my own dog. My parents told me that we would be getting a puppy for xmas, but it was my job to find which breed, which breeder, how to take care of it etc...

I spent six months researching about dogs. Their mentality, their behaviour, what they need etc. And I have to say, looking back, that was a major help to me overcoimg this phobia.

6 years later and I am a huge dog lover now. I've gone from one extreme end of the scale right to other :p And it has honestly changed my life in such a big way.

Scamper, our beloved Cavalier, is one of the best things that could have ever happened to me :)

Don't know how bad your case is Yudi, but perhaps you should start looking into getting a dog of your own.
