West Indies Tour of Australia 2010

Dowlin has good technique when it comes to leaving balls but other then that he is average.

Ha just when I say that he gets out leaving/playing a shot.

lol 3/11, what a disaster.

Yo Howsie if you read this, now you know why I think of Simmons the way I do.

The Windies are really starting to worry me. Not them specifically but the culture that seems to be around their cricket. Obviously not having the pure talent of the bigger cricketing nations we are going to see them more and more produce players suited only to T20 cricket and being very poor in all other forms.

I'm concerned this will become a trend in all of the countries outside the top 3 or 4 in the rankings leaving test cricket in some trouble as the lesser nations end up with even fewer players capable of batting properly

WI are batting like minnows, I don't think Sarwan or Chanderpaul would have made a difference. They are just low in confidence.

How do you know the confidence isnt low because 7 starters are missing?

Do you think that Australia wouldn't feel a difference if Ponting and Hussey were left out?
Picture a Aussies side without, Marsh, Ponting, Clarke, Bollinger, Johnson, and a few others.

Squad for Next 3 ODIs.

Gayle
Morton
Hinds
Nash
Deonarine
Pollard
Ramdin
Smith
Rampaul
Miller
Roach

3 slips in a ODI, West Indies your doing it wrong.

4/11

^ lol calm down tiger, I agree with you, but Dowlin & Gayle = Fail, it doesn't matter who you are missing.

Dowlin isn't a first choice anything so yea he is a fail. I am really disapointed with Gayle tho, seeing how he is the senior player and the most experience its on him to carry the team and he hasn't done it so far.

Dare added 2 Minutes and 37 Seconds later...

I am concerned at the lack of depth more than anything.

Gayle has put to much pressure on himself. Despite being outwardly cool I'm sure he is feeling the pressure of having to carry his side

Yeah, depth is the problem. Then again, most teams around the world would struggle with 7 players out. Australia is probably the only side who could survive this many injuries.

Chanderpaul, Sarwan, Taylor, Edwards, Benn, Barath and Bravo would all be in the side right now.

I feel sorry for the West Indies. I also feel sorry for Gayle. At the start of the series he put on a brave face acting confidant to try lift his team but now he's going to cop a lot from it.

Rather sure two batsmen that average mid 40's would make a difference tbh, as would having half their regular squad here.

Sure 7 players out is a massive blow but I wouldn't say any of the players who are in for them are of international quality. Even if they only had 1-2 players out I would suggest whoever was bought in would be a weak link, just now they have a number of weak links.
