West Indies Tour of Australia 2010

Hate Channel Nine! They've switched to some random show ten seconds after Ponting hit that four. WTF! I'm pree sure people would rather see the ceremony, and after game show.

Although I must say, looks like a good evening movie :D

What is it?

Gazza added 0 Minutes and 32 Seconds later...

Lethal Weapon, aye?

Australia Crushing Westindies More Badly then they did to Pakistan. But this was bound to happen

Wow, what an atmosphere, that massive crowd really made some noise last night didn't they?

I think they all went home early to watch Home and Away.

Tbf the ground is only like half open due to construction.

Anywayz nobody likes Home&Away :p

Channel Nine couldn't wait to get the cricket off. I bet the ratings flopped pretty badly.

And...This is where the summer starts getting long and pointless. I'm sure Ponting would want nothing more than to get through the games unscathed, but he's probably scared another fast bowler is gonna go down. It will be interesting to see how much rotation happens. Will Smith get a run for a couple of games? Hopes should play a bit, and they could give Pup or Hussey a rest. Maybe Nannes or Tait could play if they want to keep Dougie in cotton wool.

For the Windies I really think either Pollard or Smith needs to come in early. At present they are coming in 4 or 5 down for 50 and they are basically handcuffed. They can't play aggressively or with freedom because it will be seen as irresponsible. I say send them in at #3 or #4 so they can play without fear of recriminations. If they get out, then the supposed 'specialists' will have their chance to dig in and grind out a respectable total. And if the move works it will actually give Ricky Ponting something to think about when he starts seeing the ball disappear to all parts. At present, he's probably thinking about his KFC back in the dressingroom during the games it's that easy :laugh

I think its a good idea to rest key players, we have an intense few months coming up, so much cricket. I remember when this 'resting' policy was introduced in 2000 in the CUB series, the critics slammed the Aussies. Aus changed their team every match but still won every game that summer in tests and Odi's, against WI ( who did still have Walsh, and Lara), and Zim.

Would have liked to have seen Steve Smith in for Watson as I assume Paine will open with Marsh.

Yeah but what is resting someone for two games going to do. Its no different then having a game a week apart. I dont agree with this resting thing. They should name team and stick with it. If they wanted to rest someone, rest them for the whole series, then they will actually recover.

ODI series shouldn't be 5 matches long. Not with T20 cricket now. A series should be 3 tests minimum with 4 or 5 often, 3 ODIs the standard with 4 or 5 maximum on very rare occasions and 1 T20 per tour.

IMO i miss the tri series. would have given someone apart from Australia a win for the summer.

I have always been in favor of resting players, youngsters and veterans alike. If you can afford to rest 2 of your best and not lose then why not. Haddin has played every match like the art ice says and he deserves a good rest. He has been great for the Aussies this summer.
