Hopes has levelled up. It's interesting because for the longest time whenever he batted in a T20 there just didn't seem to be anything there, but this summer for Queensland he was able to score a couple of good 50s. He was always a decent off-side player, so I think the main area he has gained is the humble cow shot. Those big hits over long on and midwicket not only add a mountain of runs, but also encourage bowlers to drop the ball in the slot for a cut or off-drive.

Its the best he has batted for AUS without a doubt in his career these last two games, especially with his hitting.

But at the same time, he is more than capable of doing this in the future againts better sides. A very useful ODI all-rounder.

Hopes is never the darling of the media, its only the immature that disregard his talent. other flashier players might get the attention but so what.

Disappointed at the lack of pace and consistency with some of the bowlers but it would be harsh to blame this on them the fielding let them down, could have had the Aussies out much earlier if the easy catches were taken.

Same thing I say for Tonge. Why bring them all the way on this tour if you arent going to play them. Tonge is a big man, offers more pace and bounce to a squad full of medium pace bowlers.
Simmons has done jack ████, average 10 with a strike rate of 40. I know Nash isn't a hit it out of the ground kind of guy but at least he can score some runs.
