GAYLE OUT AFTER POSITIVE START

Chris Gayle's form slump continued when he was caught at cover by Symonds off McGrath. Gayle had made a positive start to the West Indian innings but made the mistake of trying to hit a McGrath off cutter over the infield. The two Windie openers were looking in the best form of the tour so it is a disappointment for the partnership to be cut short...

WINDIES LOOSE SECOND WICKET

Shane Warne has claimed his first wicket of the match, Wavell Hinds. Warne bowled a slower ball which hinds picked and attempted to smash out of the park. He would have been successful if the hands of Dizzy Gillespie hadn't been in the way to take the catch and move the Aussies one step closer to victory...

Australia looks in control right now.
Woah! i wouldn't say that. Lara is out there looking good on 25 and Chandrapaul is there accompaning him. If these two get to a start...well, lets say the aussies will have some pain in the morning ;)

LARA REACHES 50

Brian Lara has given his team some hope by making a gutsy and tough 50. Lara has been hit by vicious Brett Lee bouncers numerous times but has kept going. He has been particularly skillful at working the ball through the covers. If Lara can maintain a solid partnership with Chanderpaul the Aussies could be in danger of drawing with the Windies...

CHANDERPAUL OUT

The Windies hopes of drawing the match have been severly dented after the loss of their captain Shiv Chanderpaul. McGrath picked up his second wicket as Chanderpaul much like Chris Gayle tried to loft one over the infeild but only found Shane Warne, who had been moved from first slip just 3 balls earlier. Now Sarwan must play a good innings to give the Windies a slight chance of drawing the match or maybe now, even winning it...

LARA FAILS WHEN WINDIES NEED HIM MOST

The title says it all, Brian Lara fell to some cunning captaincy and good bowling. On the first two balls of Warne's over Lara hit consecutive fours over the mid wicket region. Warne then bowled two more that Lara was forced to defend. During this time Ricky Ponting put a fielder just over mid wicket. Lara however didn't see this and when the next ball came he smashed the ball straight into Andrew Symonds hands. The Aussies are only one wicket away from victory as the next man in is out of from keeper Browne, then the weak tail-enders...

LEE STRIKES

The Windies hopes are all but shattered after loosing their last respectable batsman to Brett Lee. Lee bowled a fiery outswinger which caught the edge of Sarwans bat and sped to 3rd slip where Hayden took a nice catch down low. The Windies still require 83 runs to draw level and with only the keeper and the tail left, It looks like the Aussies have this one in the bag...

AUSSIES WIN COMFORTABLY

The Aussies have now taken a 2-0 lead in the series after another crushing victory over the Windies. The final margin was an innings and 67 runs. The Windies were dismissed in their second innings for 196. Shane Warne was the pick of the bowlers, taking four wickets. McGrath also chipped in with his three. The Windies will again have to recover from a defeat and be ready for the next test at the MCG, starting soon...

AUSTRALIAN PERFORMANCES

1) J.Langer (100%) Batted superbly for his 218*. Did not give any chances and was strong against a pace attack. Had an aggressive mind set which seemed to help him. Played with confidence and sureness.

2) M.Hayden (20%) Got out early then never got a second innings. Didn't play with the confidence he had in Brisbane. Took some nice catches in the second innings at slip.

3) R.Ponting (60%) Got a start early but failed to make anything big. captained well and fielded well at first and second slip taking good catches.

4) D.Martyn (50%) Had a game much like Ponting's. Got a good early start but then threw his wicket away with a stupid shot. When he was in played very nicely and looked to be going on to a big score.

5) M.Hussey (80%) Batted well and took the first catch of the game. His innings was a good supporting one to Justin Langer. Unfortunately missed out on his 100 but can be very happy with his performance.

6) A.Gilchrist (55%) Played great cricket early in his innings, smashing a six and two fours before trying to hit one that was not there to be hit. Kept well and took some nice catches.

7) A.Symonds (40%) Had a dissapointing game. He was out for 6 early and did not look confident like he does in 50 over matches. Got one wicket bowling and fielded well in the covers, taking mulitiple good catch. Unfortunately his poition could be in danger.

8) S.Warne (70%) Bowled very well in the second innings taking four wickets with excellent spin bowling. Kept a very good economy rate as well. Was a little dissapointing with the bat.

9) B.Lee (75%) Has been under the shadow of McGrath all tour but has bowled very well taking atleast two wickets per innings. Looks as though he has worked on his line and length as he is bowling more on the top of off stump which is getting him more wickets.

10) J.Gillespie (65%) Looked promising in the first innings, taking 3/20 but failed to fire in the second. Took only one wicket but still had a good economy rate. Doesn't seem like the Dizzy we are so used to seeing.

11) G.McGrath (90%) Again had an great game. Got heaps of movement of the pitch and was rewared with batsmen playing stupid strokes or edges to the slips. McGrath is the one big problem that stands in the way of the Windies at the moment.

3RD TEST MATCH

Welcome to the MCG for the third test match between Australia and the West Indies. The Aussies (aka Glen McGrath) have destroyed the West Indian batting lineups this series. The Aussie top order has also had a good tour so far. The Windies have made no changes to their lineup but the Aussies have brought previously out of form batsmen Simon Katich back into their lineup as well as forgotten quick Michael Kasprowicz

The pitch is a typical MCG pitch, flat with some cracks along the crease. In these overcast conditions it would be ideal to bowl first although you are taking a risk in batting last. This pitch will deteriorate during the course of the match so spinners will have a big part to play.

The Toss has been one by the Aussies who have elected to field...
