Haha, win a test? Mate, I don't know your smoking...

I think the Windies will be lucky to draw a test!

Oh I certainly think they can get away with a draw if they have a full stength squad but with a second string team, it'll be an Aussie annihilation.

so the tour is on with a full strength squad. Im glad this thing was finally settled and Im happy to see a full strength team back.

Adrian Barath
Chris Gayle
Ramnaresh Sarwan
Shiv Chanderpaul
Narsingh Deonarine/Lendl Simmons
Dwayne Bravo *
Denesh Ramdin +
Jerome Taylor
Nikita Miller
Kemar Roach
Fidel Edwards

That would be my preferred Test XI for this tour. It would have been nice if Barath actually played against Bangladesh and got a taste of test cricket but at this time there arent any better options to open along with Gayle.
If Gayle doesn't lead the squad I think Bravo would make a good captain.

Apparently we might go for the four-pronged pace attack for the 1st Test, leaving Hauritz out on the sidelines.I doubt it though. The selectors can't be that ignorant.

considering that only 4 of the WI players (Bravo,Gayle,Sarwan and Chanderpaul) are known as capable of handling spinners I have no idea why Australia wouldn't play a spinner. Unless they want to use Clarke as the option.

I highly doubt Clarke will be bowling again, his back is really causing him problems. Hauritz deserves to be picked but knowing our selectors we will indeed go with the 4 seamers although Watson can actually play that role anyway so really we should be playing Hauritz.

I would like the windies to shine. I think Jerome Taylor has a lot of talent and surely the 'coming of age' performance is coming onto the horizon, Fidel too works very hard, and he'll still be running in on day 4 and 5 trying to get the last of the bounce out the pitch.

But yeah, the aussies will dominate, pretty much from start to finish, maybe they'll wobble but I reckon they'll come through it and win all the matches.

I just want the WI to be competitive and not get destroyed. Once again like when England came to the Caribbean everyone is expecting the WI to be demolished but I hope different things happened.
Last time Australia were in the Caribbean the WI had them in trouble a few times. It should be interesting.

I think that they should go in with...

1. Adrian Barath
2. Chris Gayle
3. Ramnaresh Sarwan
4. Shiv Chanderpaul
5. Brendon Nash
6. Dwayne Bravo *
7. Dinesh Ramdin +
8. Darren Sammy
9. Jerome Taylor
10. Kemar Roach
11. Fidel Edwards

Although I am a large proponent of the fact that the West Indies need to look to adopt a two spinner policy in the near future, I believe that the poor performance of Miller and Austin against Bangladesh (albeit in one and two Tests but still had circa 20 and 50 overs respectively) amongst the strong performance of Sammy and Roach leaves little other option, for the moment. Moreover, I feel that the atmospheric conditions of Australia would be perfect for a strategy in which five pace bowlers can be played (with Gayle playing a sufficient role as a containing off spinner) and also a team in which batting goes as deep with Darren Sammy, the all rounder at eight. People don't rate Sammy as a serious bowling option, but with 25 Test wickets at 25.96 and 140 FC wickets at 25.79, he most certainly is.

I totally forgot about Nash and he should be in there instead of Deonarine and Simmons but these 2 should also be selected for the tour and fight for a spot.

I'm not that big on Sammy, his batting hasn't been that great in Tests and his bowling is average. He had a great start with 8 wickets in a test against England but his numbers are inflated by the 12 wicket he got against Bangladesh in the 2 tests. In 4 tests against Australia/South Africa he has 5 wickets and has scored 111 runs in those tests.

I don't think chanderpaul is going to move to 4 after so long occupying the 5 spot, even when he was far and away their best batsman.

is playing a 19 year old debutant as opener in australia really a great idea? maybe simmons should partner Gayle.

I agree with Dare though that they should give the 3rd pace man spot to Roach. Sammy, Powell and Baker were hopeless, even if he's wayward and raw at least he won't be toothless.

4 or 5 wherever he prefers it. If he wants to play at #5 then just put Nash in at #4.

I don't think its the best idea but he is better then all other options that WI have. Simmons had some chances and didnt take advantage of them, Barath has the talent and the ability but also allot of pressure on him. I think he has what it takes to have a decent 1st series against the Aussies.

Maybe WI can also take Tonge with them, he had a great 1st class season last year and did well in the Champions Trophy. Then they can decide Roach or Tonge.

I am looking forward to this, some great players to watch. Nash is like a mini-Chanderpaul. not sure how true this is but I heard he once scored 1 run in an entire session of a first class match.

He is a really patient player and that is something WI needed. He mainly feasts on the cut shot, anything short and wide and he cuts it. A off side player is the best side to describe him.

Yeah that's true, he was opening for Queensland when he "achieved" that feat.

Looking through the teams that some people have thrown out their for the Windies I'd probably go with Manee's line-up, except I'd switch Chanderpaul and Nash around and play a spinner instead of Sammy.
