The big question is that will the Aussies go for a win or not?
Definitely will. It's called hubris/arrogance, whatever you like. They may not open with Haddin and attack straight away, but you can bet they will be thinking of a win all the way. Only if they are 5/100 chasing 320 will they even think about stopping. The famous example was the Laxman-Dravid game of 2001. Australia could have easily played for a draw there, but it was pure arrogance that said, no even though we've lost a few wickets, it can still be done, and it ended up the worst loss ever, turnaround wise. They had to chase 380 odd in 75 overs, were scoring around 4.5 an over at one stage trying to stay in range. Then Harbhajan destroyed the middle order - game over.
But this one will probably be the standard chase. Don't take risks to start, target the weaker bowlers in the middle when you need to keep in range of the target and then when you feel close, start hitting out.
So say they lose a few overs for rain and the chase is approx. 300 off 80 overs. I'd be surprised if Australia aim to be more than 120-140 in the first 40 overs. It's after that they will look to push. If they collapse before that, it's easy to shut up shop and defend.
Johnson looks so much better from around the wicket.
Yeah when it's reverse swinging he seems to be able to straighten it nicely from there and that seems to give him some extra confidence.
Surprised Siddle isn't in trouble for his constant out-bursts in the 1st innings :laugh
Who's gonna fine him, Lady Luck for his constant cursing of her? :laugh It was just frustration that none of his edges went to hand. Dougie's was just stupidity. I laughed loudly when he did it, but if I were Asad Rauf I would have been thinking 'what a tool'.
