Very interesting days play tomorrow, WI really shouldve batted faster and had a bowl at us tonight- no way Watson/Katich/Ponting wouldve wanted to bat late in the day. Its just too hard to score fast on this pitch so I really dont give us a chance to win, maybe draw but we'll have to play really well. The WI bowlers shouldnt be good enough to bowl us out, maybe we'll score of their quicks but Benn might tie us up, we'll need to be a bit less defensive, but you never know.

Doug Bollinger gets cited for kicking the ground... Saw this on TV and it was not a big deal. Is the ICC trying to eliminate all character from the game? Soon they wont be allowed to smile without being fined. Pathetic.

Considering after appealing and being turned down he appealed again and right afterward did that big air kick it was obvious dissent. He deserves the fine 100%. Was very childish.

I think the WIndies can almost prey on the collective egos of the Aussies here. After all that crap in the press after the first Test, I think Australia are bound to go for the win, rather than just settling for the draw, which gives the WIndies a good chance. I'm hoping they add another 20 or so quickly tomorrow and then either declare or get bowled out, to set Australia 320 in 80 overs or more. Should be a good last day.

WI might just play for next 10-15 overs, and then declare, and in those overs, they would like to get max runs, lets see, should be interesting day's play....

As they should. If Australia chase down 296 on this pitch then good on them, you don't get a chance to beat them at home too often.

I agree with this thinking, they're not 1-0 up in the final test where playing for a draw would ensure a series win. they've got a really good chance to do something all but south africa have done in the past series and beat the aussies at home and possibly draw or win the series.

it would be a great achievement. might put a bit of needed pressure on the side too, maybe once expectations of them raise then we'll see some more determined performances.

even if they score 320 - 350.
it's going to be hard for them still.
since west indies are missing there 2 strike bowler J Taylor and F Edwards. i doubt we can bowl Australia out in a day.
Having Austrlia scored 200 without lost in the first inning, it's to hard to say.
I would love West Indies to win this match. but on the real side, it maybe a draw, or Australia to win.
Reason for this nearly everyone in Australia can bat, West Indies will need to pick up wickets Fast and quick, if they want to win. and don't sit back until the last wicket fall, it's going to be hard.

We would have to score the most runs in the last innings at the Adelaide oval and no one has even come close to getting 300 in the last century.

No one has won at the Adelaide too after their opponents got 550 in the 1st innings before the 06/07 Ashes.

Should be a great game, but don't be surprised if the unexpected occurs.

The big question is that will the Aussies go for a win or not?

Definitely will. It's called hubris/arrogance, whatever you like. They may not open with Haddin and attack straight away, but you can bet they will be thinking of a win all the way. Only if they are 5/100 chasing 320 will they even think about stopping. The famous example was the Laxman-Dravid game of 2001. Australia could have easily played for a draw there, but it was pure arrogance that said, no even though we've lost a few wickets, it can still be done, and it ended up the worst loss ever, turnaround wise. They had to chase 380 odd in 75 overs, were scoring around 4.5 an over at one stage trying to stay in range. Then Harbhajan destroyed the middle order - game over.

But this one will probably be the standard chase. Don't take risks to start, target the weaker bowlers in the middle when you need to keep in range of the target and then when you feel close, start hitting out.

So say they lose a few overs for rain and the chase is approx. 300 off 80 overs. I'd be surprised if Australia aim to be more than 120-140 in the first 40 overs. It's after that they will look to push. If they collapse before that, it's easy to shut up shop and defend.

Johnson looks so much better from around the wicket.

Yeah when it's reverse swinging he seems to be able to straighten it nicely from there and that seems to give him some extra confidence.

Surprised Siddle isn't in trouble for his constant out-bursts in the 1st innings :laugh

Who's gonna fine him, Lady Luck for his constant cursing of her? :laugh It was just frustration that none of his edges went to hand. Dougie's was just stupidity. I laughed loudly when he did it, but if I were Asad Rauf I would have been thinking 'what a tool'.

Just like in the past we now have Watson who can score at a decent rate by just playing his natural game. Ponting is usually the same, but once they go I would be shutting up shop. Maybe keep going if Hussey decides to play in ODI mode else I would be saving the wickets for the draw. Don't want to have only 5 wickets left come tea time.

Brad Haddin said the Aussies will go for the win, whatever the WI score.

If I was a betting man, draw would not be my bet. Should be a great day :D
