West Indies Tour of England - July 2020

Jimmy back and straight away right on the money! It is amazing the gift he has.

That wasn't even the point.

If you take out Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins out of the Australian attack they still have James Pattinson and Jhye Richardson.
If you take out Jasprit Bumrah and Ishant Sharma out of the Indian attack they still have Umesh Yadav and Navdeep Saini as back ups. Infact India's best Test bowler hasn't even played a single Test since January 2018.

For England you take those 2 out you don't even a reliable pace attack which can deliver consistently for them.
But the point is they ARE playing. The original posters comment that you reacted to was that WI would be under the cosh with this attack in this game in this mornings session. I am sorry but you do make some invalid points sometimes.

bbbbreeeaaaaakthrough! What a catch what a catch!!!![DOUBLEPOST=1595759760][/DOUBLEPOST]Ohhhhh noooooooooo![DOUBLEPOST=1595759783][/DOUBLEPOST]Woaksssssssssssss my preciousssssssssssss!

Same ground where Leachy overstepped against the Aussies last summer, hope this isn't a bad omen

Wahey Broad is finally on and look what has happened nearly straight away. What took you so long to bring him on Joe.

What he said was "This pace attack at home is relentless". So my point is valid.

But that's just crap though.

Without Broad and Anderson, you end up with this England team:

:eng: :bat: Burns
:eng: :bat: Sibley
:eng: :bat: ... somebody (please Hain or Lawrence)
:eng: :bat: Root
:eng: :ar: Stokes
:eng: :bat: Pope
:eng: :wk: Buttler atm
:eng: :ar: Woakes
:eng: :bwl: Bess
:eng: :bwl: Wood
:eng: :bwl: Archer

So Wood, Archer and Woakes as a front-line seam attack is decent. Stokes as a fourth seamer. So this whole "EnGlAnD oNlY hAvE bRoAd AnD aNdErSoN" thing is wildly inaccurate

I've not even gone into the backup options - Ollie Stone, Ollie Robinson and Sam Curran is a solid set of support options as well

Agree with you but just seems that those two are usually so on the money whatever score England have posted.

I cannot understand why they didn't come on straight away at the start of the day, only Root can answer that one of course.

That isn't a bad attack either but the thing is that the difference between the former and this is something big. You cannot say that Wood, Archer and Woakes would win you a series alone especially when you lack runs on the board against a batting of that of Australia or New Zealand. That is what I am trying to say.

I've got no argument with the fact that Broad and Anderson are both uncommonly good players, but to dismiss the others because they don't stand up so well against two of the greatest seamers in English history is silly. It's like saying that Damien Martyn was no good because he didn't score as heavily as Ricky Ponting

If you don't score runs you will struggle to be consistent no matter who is bowling; England have successfully proved this over the last four years.
