West Indies Tour of England - May to June 2012

Would obviously like to see Strauss hit 100 and take some pressure off. His average isn't actually too bad in the last 2 years but people focus on the 100s stat.

I looked at his average, it isn't that good either. If he scores a double hundred here it won't prove much.

What Owzatt said really. Strauss' average is not that great either. I would even suggest that after the stellar first 2 years he had, and then the good little comback spell after he was initially dropped due to poor form, he has again failed to score runs once worked out. He can get to 30 odd every time, but when a good spinner comes on these days it always seems a matter of time before he gets out.

Also, his average has done nothing but come down since those first 2 years pretty much.

Interesting airtime with Holding at the moment. Got a lot to say about Jerome Taylor heh

Trott definitely nicked that. Hopefully this new improved hotspot continues to be as accurate. Really good spot. Hot spotting.

God damn I dont want to see Sammy bowl his medium pace for the entire freaking day. Put on Roach or Gabriel for fearsome tweak sakes.

Wonderful effort from Strauss, really good to see him battle through to that.

Clearly Staruss' day. Not been chance-less, or convincing after he passed 80-odd, but a ton is a ton.

WI bowling has been really dissappointing. Really expected more from them. Conditions are still overcast and ideal for swing - just none of them seem to be capable of controlling it for a sustained period. Really missing Rampaul.

Time to drop Strauss. He just isn't up to is anymore. Also is Stuart Broad really a test-standard bowler?
I think it's time to recall Mark Ramprakash.

The calls will start to come again once Steyn and Philander rip him out 4 times in a row. It's not been a convincing innings, and clearly the WI attack is several pedestals below SA's.

The issue for me has been not that runs at his home ground mean Strauss is back, but rather that he's definitely not completely shot. We all know he can score runs in England against seam attacks that don't do anything with pace or swing/seam. Runs in this series and then none against SA or India means he has proven nothing.

Good innings though, much needed and weather permitting England being in prime position to go 1-0 up and then probably complete a whitewash.

SA being South Australia...

Attack is probably not much worse than this one (probably better)

That's what's so dissappointing :( I was really looking forward to see how this promising atk would do in helpful conditions. But this is just pathetic. Kick Holding off his rant chair and make him bowl a few.

Holding was on fire earlier :) Slating the Windies board and various aspects of Windies cricket. Also told some interesting sides to the players stories in regards to Taylor.

Great catch from Ramdin that. That was some serious deviation. Poor though to get out to Samuels so close to the end of the day.
