What car do you drive?

Hmm. I want a car that's a bit of fun, rear wheel drive, but I don't want to be pouring money into fuel. Has to be 6 or less cylinders, and pretty cheap. And not pussy.

You got any other ideas? Maybe a Falcon?
Wanting rear wheel drive boots most cars out. And if you got something like an old BMW, it'd be cool, but anything you'd save in petrol goes right back in to your huge service bills.

I'd save up some more and buy in the early 2000s if you're getting a local car, a mid 90s Commodore or Falcon is on the way out by now.

I'm pretty sure that's how it goes.
Only in NSW, it varies rapidly from state to state. You can drive solo at 16 in SA, but for Victoria it's 18. That and we don't have the stupid speed restrictions on L/P platers. The only P1/P2 difference for me was passenger restrictions and towing.

16 for Ls
18 for Red Ps
19 for Green Ps
21 for Full

And I think I am "supposed" to be on my green Ps by now, but oh well who cares :p

Yeah, the speed limits are stupid. L platers are allowed to have any car to drive, yet only do 80 k's in it.

I want a car that's RWD so I can muck around with mates in it, and also so I can take it to the racecourse for drifting. I don't wanna end up in some shitty little FWD hatchback, I want to enjoy my driving, especially while I'm young and really into it.

That is wierd... here in India you can only get a license at 18. You take a learning license, for at least a month (or at most 6 months) and within those 6 months you can apply for a permanent license.

Well, Indian Driving licenses aren't exactly recognized much over the world. To be honest, getting a license in India is as easy as opening a bank account.
Aussie rules are much tougher, and they should be. So are US rules.

Yeah fair point there. They hardly check anything. Most licenses are made without any checks either!

NZ rules are pretty good (for young people), driving around by yourself at 15, Full license at 16 (if you do defensive driving course).

False, you can rent a car around the world as long as you have the "International" Indian DL. Need to pay extra for that.

Definitely. I got my license in India through my learning school, who I had been driving around with for about a month and a half. The "driving test" consisted of getting in line and signing a piece of paper that was then used in the actual "booklet". It was a joke and it's a combination of lack of resources and corruption.

Not really. I think you can get a learner's at 15 in some states. If you do driver's ed in high school, in some cases you automatically get your full license when you become eligible. The driving tests, at least in Texas, are a joke--although you still have to do them and you can't not know how to drive. For my test, I had to parallel park in between two cones that were set wide enough for a Ford Truck (which was a cinch in a Prius) and then drive around the block and come back to the DPS. Probably helped that my tester happened to be the mom of one of my co-workers, completely by coincidence!

The U.S. allows drivers to drive younger because their road rules are actually followed and aren't a royal mess like Indian roads, where it's everyone for their own. Also, the fact that statistically almost 1 in 2 people in the U.S. drives a car contributes to the fact that they are more lenient on the age restriction--most people are going to grow up knowing how to drive.

Well yes that is true. Indian driving isnt recognised by lot many countries. I remember being asked for ID proof at a Casino in Canada and that driving license did not help :( and I had to stay out:doh

That's exactly what I meant! Even in Sydney, the casinos don't recognize the Indian license as an ID proof.

With that attitude you won't be driving for long.

Liquor and Tobacco licensing laws (at least) don't allow any foreign licences. Passports or local proof of age cards/licences are all that can be considered 'proof'.

Let's hope he doesn't kill an innocent party. What happens to himself is deserved. But kids get killed because of this mucking about and drifting bullshit, which is the behaviour of small-penised trailer trash.
