What makes English Test Matches more enjoyable than other tests?

I thought Tests in Australia would be considered more enjoyable.

Bigger stadiums, bigger attendance, playing against better competition.

Plus it isn't always overcast either. :D

The overcast conditions and rain adds to the spectacle. Will there be a result or not? Great fun.

Also if team A is winning on day 1 (looks like), you see team B dominating day 3/4, nothing like that happens in Asia.

Each country has its own characteristic in watching matches

West Indies has a great party atmosphere.

Australia is all round outstanding with good stadiums, big crowds, and quality pitches.

South Africa has a party like atmosphere as well ( including bikini-clad girls all over the crowds. :p)

India . . . big crowds

England has brilliant conditions.

I think the fact that England has that boring, test-like atmosphere that makes it good to watch.

you think England has that boring test match atmosphere? Are you having a laugh?

I reckon England tests are so interesting is that they could play bad one day and great the next. You never know.

The Ashes in England are legendary...The atmosphere is electric.

I've found that I enjoy watching Englisht test cricket as well. It is on at a good time for me as I will watch a bit of it before I go to bed.

Well, maybe boring was the wrong word. I meant, you know, all quiet and all (excluding the Ashes).

Hmmmm, i tend to disagree here. English test matches have quiet moments, granted. But i don't remember any other test nation chanting for hours on end?

Do you?

Its quite rare to even see ground staff at India test matches, yet alone spectators.

1. We respect the game
2. We applaud efforts by both teams, the fans aren't afraid to give a good round of applause to the opposition if they do some good.
3. Smaller grounds mean only the people that really want to see cricket getting in meaning the crowds you get truely love the game.
4. Little corporate sponsorship
5. Conditions
6. We can be good but also terrible.
7. Bumble :D

Agree with the topic, I like it because,
1. it is always on ESPN or Star Sports, the telecast is superior to any other channel.
2. the timing is very good. .during the day and evening here where i live.
3. the green outfield, that is nowhere to be seen and the pitch allowing contest for both bat and bowl.
4. the temperature isn't very hot. .it is just cool and I as a viewer can feel that lol :D
5. the commentators are very good, though biased but still it is far superior. the audience are very good too.
6. the overall aura is great. .the cheer when run is scored is great.

Good point, but the Egnlish crowds seem to be a bt over plite, don't you think - I mean, I'm not saying they should be like the rowdy Indian crowds, but it seems as if there's not much enthusiasm.

I agree with all of the above.

I think in terms of the atmosphere nothing beats the West Indies. Be it a test match, one day game or the latest T20, the crowds just flock in and have a party. You dont get to see that anywhere else in the world, and the crowds here are loud but friendly. They appreciate even the opposition when a 50 or century is scored or a wicket is taken. If only the West Indies could be a little more competitive now days, although despite being easily beaten by Australia, the West Indies did well this team around.

Test matches in England are good to watch because they are close and the balance of the game usually shifts between the two teams on a number of times, and even the one sided games like the one being played now seem to be filled with action and excitement.

English Test matches-well,its always overcast. The grounds look superb and the stadiums are always full.Maybe thats a reason why people enjoy watching the Tests out there.

But,I tend to like Australian Tets matches.Though many a time, its always Aus who is on the top,it still makes it enjoyable.I feel the coverage is just fantastic.
