Who's the next-best batsman after Bradman?

Can I quickly drag this back from a favourite Indian batsman debate to a next best batsman after Bradman debate please? That's why I picked George Headley earlier. And for all you retards saying "who says Bradman was the best?" I reply absolutely anyone who ever studied the game at all.

There are well documented evidence and videos on youtube showing instances in which Sachin has cheated, the guy is dishonest and selfish as Yudi alluded to in that beautiful post of his.

And yes I agree with the guys Dravid is a better batsman than Schin can ever be, Sachin played in the shadow of guys like Sourav, Dravid, Laxman etc.

As for Gilchrist, personally I have never seen a single Aussie playing within the spirit of the game, team India is taking shape like the Aussies also in overappealing and claiming false catches, when MSD goes general sportsmanship of the team will disintegrate till it is no more.

See who's calling who desperate? You are the one who's getting personal here. I was having a pretty interesting argument with Maddy (Madhavan) and Yudi. Its you who comes in and says "he is desperate, he would never accept it, brickwall" blah blah blah.... You were desperate to find someone who criticized Sachin, and you found your friend in Maddy. :P :D

Yes, I too agree with this! But the problem is, he has frustratingly been inconsistent, esp. abroad... But yes, the way he played his game, the rest of the batsmen used to get influenced pretty heavily depending on Sehwag's performance. Esp. when chasing a stiff target, if Sehwag gets out early, India used to shut shop most often. And if Sehwag clicks, India believed they could chase a big target down.

Tendulkar is extremely overrated, mostly by the Indians. The nickname "god of cricket". They take it too literally. But i don't blame them.. Most of them don't even realize that Kapil Dev was a greater Indian cricketer than Tendulkar ever was. Then there's the likes of Gavaskar and more. Even the current star Kohli is better in ALL 3 formats of the game.


Tendulkar just had that 'aura', and he's kind of a God for the Indians. It is what it is


But calling him a "failure" is also horseshit. He's just overrated. That's all. Definitely a Top 5-7 ALL Time great batsman still. His technique was superb, but even Kallis could easily be considered the same or even a better batsman. But Kallis also had almost 300 Test and almost 300 ODI wickets, while being a ATG batsman as well. So Tendulkar really can't be anywhere near that stratosphere. The ignorant and biased people seem to neglect that glaring fact.





I'll say this though. You are completely a fool to even utter those words about Sobers, who is considered the greatest All Rounder, and also the 2nd Greatest Batsman of All Time, after Bradman. That's literally not just a "west indian" thing. Every single legends of the game, current and old cricketers and everyone with proper knowledge.. has always stated this same fact.


Sobers is a bit overrated as a "all rounder", just because he bowled a lot of "different shit". but he was never an effective bowler. But that's the point.. HE WAS THE 2ND GREATEST BATSMAN, and all that bowling and wickets was just the added benefit. Sobers was a freak batsman, and also the most FUN batsman to watch. Pure elegance, class, but also extremely aggressive. Not just brute strength aggression.. but complete control and technical aggression. First batsman ever to hit 6 SIXES in an over as well.

Sobers also played in a tough era, and his team was not that good. That's he had to bowl that much. In any other good team, he'd just be a specialist batsman.. and his average would have been even higher.


There's a reason why CRICKETER OF THE YEAR award is literally named after Sir Garfield Sobers.. Don't act like a disrespectful nut job.

I don't want to discourage you from posting, as you clearly have a lot to say and you are even digging up old threads. But unless you can do it in a less confrontational manner, and without calling people nut jobs, you are going to end up getting banned. You've already been warned.
 
A whole thread and nobody mentioned Barry Richards.

If (as they should) WSC Supertests and the ROW 1970 series were counted as Tests Richards would officially be in the “proper” averages and averaging over 70.

He averaged 79 in WSC!
