Why has there been no definitive answer on unique animations?

I watched it again this morning and agree, like a lot of people I'd have liked to have seen some actual matchplay, over the bowlers arm, batting views. Stumps being clattered or some nice drives. Maybe we'll get a bit more of that before release.

First time I saw the trailer, I thought "well I'm on phone maybe that's why I can't see anything". i've a 27" monitor at work so i watched it on that when i got to the office - and just thought megh (this is halfway between meh and ugh).

i've refrained from discussing the trailer because i don't want to be too negative but the trailer has led us down this rabbit hole of nonsense rather than getting us going "oooh"

I think it was a poor trailer. The editing made it impossible to make a judgment one way or the other on any mocap. I know as Ross has said the marketing isn't aimed at me but I question the logic of investing in a test based license to the extent that you don't show any non-test action, and then you cut it to look like IPL in whites. Who is it aimed at? Who is the audience that is attracted by the idea of "the ashes" but wants to play smash and bash in whites? Is it really that big?

I mean, the women's ashes incorporates odi & t20, could they not have showed some of that??

It was like it was cut by a coked-up film student after 1 hour of lectures on Michael Bay
I thought about cutting together a trailer of what I'd like to have seen, using DBC17 as filler, when I woke up. Then I couldn't be bothered.

@blockerdave You have just written the stuff we were hesitant to write..We were just happy that we got something apart from the face scans...

Though I liked some shots in the trailer mainly when you watch it frame by frame..

I have also always felt that mo cap should have been prime thing to promote the game as Ross mentioned it not just being a cosmetic..If that is the case I mean..

I don't mind throwing bombs mate ;)

@SibiNaayagam trailer ft. @francobaldo1 mod for DBC 14 was much better. Maybe they should have asked him to edit the trailer like Konami asked Weedens to edit their PES 18 trailer.

Sibi that's it. I thought it was him but wasn't sure. Spoobir made some dbc17 vids that were better than that trailer too
I haven't seen them. Would appreciate if you can share the links to the videos you are talking about.

In my experience marketing people have great difficulty getting past bowler/batsman eyes ---> Slow motion run-up --> explosive/burning stumps. <<TITLES>>

It's literally every trailer made for every cricket game I can remember.
I would like to see more of a television style commercial. Like they do before a series is coming up. Channel 9 always do great lead ups to games

So to have an opinion on a game I need to have been a member for how long?

You can be a member for a day and have a great opinion. You can be a member since Friday, claiming a game developer is being misleading, whom most of us know is legit, and you'll get called on being a fool.

the marketing for the game has not led with unique animations as a big feature. It has been a bit vague.

Again; There are videos showing you the mo-cap process. What more could you possibly want for it not to be determined "vague?" You've been told and shown there are unique animations in the new release. You don't believe it's in the game. Hysterical.

I think it was a poor trailer.

Really?

Who is it aimed at?

Kids that buy computer games. Not any of us. It's about making the Ashes exciting again and giving some credibility back to the license. I reckon the trailer was designed to create excitement, not show specifics. More of an extended teaser. No doubt there is going to be more trailers, play-tests, images, previews and more. It's all about pacing oneself. This is fine.

In a world where Test cricket is on the chopping block, let alone barely any professional players want to be a part of most test teams, I think expecting Big Ant are going to lead with a trailer focussing on a 2nd innings declaration, showing the physics of the ball bouncing across a lightly-damp outfield at 2.30pm on day 4, with limited cuts showing 8 new bowling animations is prolly... not going to do what they want it to do, marketing-wise.

Plus the sound was cool. I hope there will be sound in the game.
