Yup although it will be an expensive buy in Pakistan unless you are based elsewhere. Also I plan to upgrage my memory next year to 2 Gb. And the Laptop is basically for my parner. I'll be building a kick-ass quad-SLI gaming rig for myself once I get a job :upray

Here the hp one costs about $1700 whereas the dell notebook of same specs costs about $1750. btw which brand did you got for your partner?
I was thinking of ordering it through official website of mentioned brands but too bad as they don?t ship to Pakistan.

I have just recieved mail from microsoft stating that Vista Build 5365 is available for download. I am downloading it right now(3.1GB). I hope they have fixed some bugs & improved its performance issues.

Clearly I wouldn't be able to be a beta tester. 3.1GB would be 1/3 of my bandwidth down the drain. How many builds have come out for Vista?

It was in NZ dollars actually and costed us $2633.00 including few nibbles like bluethooth, leather bags etc. Also since I chose Radeon X1400 so the price went up a bit.

3.1GB!!! Your kidding me...
yeah its quite huge, and will be released on DVD I think although the size will shrink in the final release as compression will be applied.

The screens look good but it is not a patch on MAC OS X to be honest.

And they've stolen the damn "widgets/gadgets" appraoch directly from OS X.

Incidentally, MAC OS X for the intel core rules! They've got some fantastic features and the interface is truly innovative and new, rather than the re-hash of win95 interface that Microsoft provides with each new release of windows.

lol, windows steals from MAC OS, and MAC OS steals form windows.
It's something file cola wars, only advertising is missing.

What is wrong with rehashing Win95 interface? No one wants a complete new interface with every new windows as it takes lots of re-learning to get used to a complete alien interface. I think microsoft has done a good job by keeping Vista similar to its previous versions (95,98,ME,2000,XP) & yet making it look more appealing and attractive than its predecessors.

And now to that copying thingy. This copying stuff from each other will go on & on. I won?t be surprised to see Apple implementing or copying Media Center capabilities & aero glass effect of Vista in their future versions of Mac OS.

Having said this, I hope this thread does not convert into Microsoft vs Apple or Vista vs OSX discussion thread.

I don't think that it is a matter of general agreement that Vista's interface (the little of what we've seen of it so far) is any better than XP's.

Personally, Vista's interface seems like a step back, and the fancy and hyped "aero" glass windows are apparently difficult to distinguish from other windows.

I agree with your point about rehashing the Win95 interface, but it does pale in comparison to the superb work Apple have done on OS X's gui. OS X for intel does ofcourse have the benefit that it has to be learnt in any case, as the average windows user doesn't ever use a Mac, unlike a windows GUI which a person will have to unlearn and then re-learn.
