Very unlikely Ben.

Hoggy has never really taken to the shorter format, strays onto the pads a little too much which is fine in a test match, but gets punished in odi cricket.

Sijo.. well if he's incredibly lucky and gets fit quickly and into form, but otherwise next season is probably his best bet for bowling again.

I'm goin there too.
But i'll go in for the latter half of the tournament when the Super Eights and Semi-Finals begin.
I'm planning on it as well. Although I'll be there only a week due to my school.

His accuracy is quite good from what I've seen today, if England can't find a paceman to fill the spot then Hoggard could be a chance.

Who Cares? England suck at ODI's and we'll see how good they are in the Australian tri-series this summer

Just found this, a few predictions:
Super 8 to remain predictable, the regular good sides.
My Final Super 8:
1. South Africa (To upset the Aussies in the pool stages and go strongly)
2. Australia (To be slow off the blocks, but find their form and become their old dominant selves)
3. Pakistan (To handle most sides, and look good allround)
4. West Indies (To shock everyone and beat some of the best sides)
5. Sri Lanka (To do well, but just miss out)
6. New Zealand (To be New Zealand - average, good against the poorer sides but not against the good ones)
7. India (To disappoint their country with a woeful series)
8. England (To continue their ODI woes and win a single match here, against NZ)
The Semis SA to beat WI
AUS to beat PAK
And the Aussies to make it a hat-trick in the final, with their good ODI combination of experience and youth to prove the best side, in a dominant performance.

No we won't because England always up their game vs Aus and have a decent record against them in recent ODIs.

Who's in our group again?

New Zealand, Canada and Kenya.

We should get through that!

You can never really be that sure with England SS; We even made hard work of Ireland...

should is a big word especially when refering to english sport!

Ireland are better than most think though. We couldn't kill off the tail as they were 135-6 at one point, plus we had a bowler light so Bell bowled five overs for 39.

The players would be more up for a World Cup game also.

I think india might have a good run in the WC. They had a bad series and start to the 03 WC, same again. Watch, we're gonna win this, and you all will be eating your text :)

Little bit of world cup stats for you; no bowlers because quite a few are young and unproven in either of the categories.

India

ODI Batting Average - World Cups/In West Indies

Tendulkar: 59.72/53.07
Sehwag: 27.18/27.19
Dravid: 64.91/40.46
Yuvraj: 34.28/33.18
Ganguly: 56.26/51.60

Verdict: A strong line up with high chance of success. Many unproven bowlers could falter them

England

ODI Batting Average - World Cups/In West Indies

Stauss: -/43.00
Flintoff: 24.42/30.25
Vaughan: 27.80/26.50
Collingwood: 45.66/32.66

Verdict: Not a great history but with many young unproven in either sub-divide, it could be interesting. Danger man is KP with an average of 55.55 in ODIs.

Australia

ODI Batting Average - World Cups/In West Indies

Gilchrist: 31.60/31.65
Ponting: 41.58/26.41
Symonds: 163.00/45.83

Verdict: Young unproven ODI squad however, Symonds may notch up another world cup hundred and with Gilchrist's recent knock and Ponting and Hussey's legendary form Aussies could be looking at another cup.

West Indies

ODI Batting Average - World Cups/In West Indies

Lara: 43.45/44.77
Gayle: 34.33/36.30
Chanderpaul: 41.61/36.31
Samuels: 14.00/24.85

Verdict: Their bowlers are what makes them special. The home advantage, piled with Gayle being Gayle, Lara being Lara and some solid records makes them my underdogs to watch. Their recent ODI form in the Champions Trophy on similar conditions to the West Indies may prove to fortell the World Cup.
