England Settle for Tea on 232

(Tea break- Day 1)

England are crusing along nicely against Western Australia at Perth on the 1st day of their 4 day match. At the Tea break, England are 2-232, with Western Australia looking for something to happen in the field. England have dominated the match so far, playing all over Western Australia, but Western Australia would have something to cheer about, is getting 2 wickets for the match so far. Andrew Strauss and Marcus Trescothick are those 2 players that have been out in the middle and now are sitting down and watching their men play the remainder of the Batting Innings. Andrew Strauss played a good knock of 48, but it was Trescothick that really got going in the end, finished on 84 before being bowled by M. Goodwin, the spinner. But all eyes are on Michael Vaughan at the moment, as coming into the tea Break, Vaughan sits on 78 not out and Paul Collingwood by his side just at the crease on 13. Michael Vaughan has faced 154 balls, so defiently isnt in a hurry to get anywhere, but has more importantly hit 7 boundaries and smashed 2 sixes in his Innings so far. Paul Collingwood the new batsman at the crease has faced 47 balls aswell, but only making 13 at the current time. England have Flintoff and Ian Bell to come down the order and at 232, they look to post 400+ by the end of the Innings.

9 November, 2007 Shane Warne praises players

Shane Warne believes the fact that Monty Panesar is in England's Ashes team has made them stronger.

Warne said that with the extra bounce and spin in Australian pitches, Monty were specialists in key areas.

"Everyone realises Monty Panesar is a match-winning spinner," he told BBC Sport.

Their presence also increases the internal competition in the squad with Ashley Giles and Geraint Jones chasing spin and keeping places respectively.

"I suppose there's a big concern for them with their tail if they play Panesar and they've got Hoggard and Harmison down there," Warne said.

"Ashley Giles can hold a bat and we've seen him at The Oval and at various times make some handy runs."

Australia would be confident of its prospects going into the series as it has won 11 of its last 12 Tests
"At the moment, England aren't playing as good as they would like, but at the end of the day it doesn't matter what's happened before," he said.

"It's all about how we play through this series. we've got some match-winners there and I'm sure we'll be looking to entertain and play well."

Good to see Monty being praised by legendary spinner! :) Looking forward for the Ashes mate! Neat presentation so far :clap
