Saw this posted on another forum, so thought we'd have a go on here. What would be your ultimate XI?

Here's mine:

----------------------Cech---------------------------

---------Ramos---------Terry-----------Chivu---------

----------------Gerrard------Fabregas---------------

-------Ronaldo---------Iniesta----------Messi---------

---------------Ibrahimovic-------Torres---------------

Might as well give a little run through. Will start from the top with Cech. For me he's the best keeper in the world, just pips Iker Casillas for me. Then I've gone for 3 at the back, as if you've got the best in the world in their positions you should only need 3. I've gone for Ramos as the right centre back, he offers good attacking intent, but is also a bloody good defender. Terry in the centre, was a tough choice between him and Ferdinand for me. Then playing Left Centre you've got Chivu, I could have gone for an out and out left-back like Clichy, but I think Terry will ultimately need help in the centre, and Chivu helps with balance.

Then you've got a centre midfield of Gerrard and Fabregas. Both fairly attacking players, but also capable of helping out in defence thanks to their fantastic fitness levels and work rates. Gerrard also provides that spark of genius that can win a game for any side. You've then got Ronaldo playing right wing, in a very attacking role, bombing down the right, just playing the role he does with United, having the freedom to roam about, knowing he'll have Ramos to support him down the wing.

Then on the left you've obviously got Messi. Up there with Ronaldo in terms of the best in the world, again playing the same role he does for Barca. Then I've got an attacking midfield position held by Andres Iniesta. For me he's been one of the best in the world for Barca this season. He offers tremendous attacking flair and dynamite passing ability. Had to be in the side for me.

Then to top off the side you've got the strike force of Ibrahimovic and Torres. Torres will provide the out and out goal threat, with Ibra offering help in the air, and also providing that little bit of Ibra genius that has helped spark the Inter team to the top of Serie A. Other options included Miroslav Klose, David Villa, Robinho, Samuel Eto'o, Karim Benzema and of course Rory Delap. I'm happy with Ibra and Torres though.

Your go, who'd you go for?

Get rid of Ramos and Ibra. Eto'o is easily the most potent striker in the world and how a bottler like Ibrahimovic can get in ahead of him is laughable. Ramos is one of the most ovverated things to come out of Spain since piela or however the hell its spelt.

Also the fact that you've gone 3-5-2 is weird.

Well I would play 4-4-2 and choose the best XI for it.

GK Cech
RB Ramos
CB Rio
CB Terry
LB lahm
RM Messi
CM Xavi
CM Kaka
LM Ronaldo
CF Torres
CF Benzema

Subs:
GK Cech
DF Vidic
MF Deco
MF Essien
FC Rooney

Goalkeeper was Casillas because he's fit. I chose Rio and Terry because they are quality and know how to play with each other. Plus Terry is popular with Rio thanks to his awesome penalty taking abilitys. LB Lahm, Evra was close but with Ronaldo on the same flank you wouldn't get much defensively so Lahm was chosen because I reckon he is a better all round defender. RB was Ramos as he'll do, there's not a great deal of choice at right back.

On the wings I've got Messi and Ronaldo, which is a bit silly because they can't defend and at their clubs they aren't traditional wingers but I am going with the you score 4, we score 5 philosophy. The team has a quality defence, they'll cope. Messi and Ronaldo are kind of self-explanatory although I have mine the other way round to you KP as Ronaldo has played a lot on the left for united whilst I don't think I've ever seen Messi start on the left.

In the centre there is Xavi and Kaka. Both are top class, Xavi is quality. Could say it was a bit lightweight but they have Essien on the bench and it'll be fine, they'll cope. Gerrard is not in my squad because he's a prick who with his prickishness would ruin the side by bitching about how every single one of the better players should be moved to accomodate a steaming pile of **** like him.

Up front it's Torres who is gay but is an awesome striker. He's with with benzema who is also a bit of a dick but is a fantastic striker who has done it at every level so far apart from international football which no-one cares about anyway.

Bench has Cech, Vidic, both obvious, Essien to offer some grit and Deco because he's class. Then Rooney who I don't think is the third best striker in the world but I do feel his work rate could be more necessary in a side like this.

Hmm, I feel Eto'o and Torres would be abit too similar, and I love watching Ibrahimovic play, and he's been in fantastic for Inter in the passed year or so, so I had to have him in my team. As for Ramos, if you can name a better Right-Centre back in the world, someone who can offer an attacking threat down the right wing, and also help fill in at centre back for set pieces I'd love to hear. I don't think there's a better right-back in the world right now, hence why Sir Alex is after him.

Why's 3-5-2 weird? Was the only way I could fit in Gerrard, Fabregas and Iniesta without dropping a striker or a winger. I could easily have gone for a boring 4-4-2, but I thought I'd mix it up abit and go for something different. What would be your team then Matt?

I'm I the only person to think that Benzema being in a World XI lineup, or even on the bench, is incredibly strange? I rate him highly but not highly enough ahead of players such as Klose, Robinho, Villa and Eto'o for example.

No he is the real deal. I can understand Villa and Eto'o being called above him but for me he's a personal favourite, but regardless of that he's class. His record the last couple of years is top and he's off to a flyer in the CL.

Eto'o was rubbish last season. So rubbish he was even linked with a team for Uzbekhistan.

Anyways my World XI would be

Casillas (GK)
Ramos (FBR) Terry (DC) Dainelli (DC) Capdevila (FBL)
Essien (DMC)
Messi (MR) Xavi (MC) Cazorla (ML)
Robinho (F)
Villa (S)

Terry would get found out as a sole CB. He's way too slow.

My personal line-up would be this tbh;

Boruc (GK)-An amazing goalkeeper. Cech doesn't seem to have that invincibility about him this season

Alves (RB) -there aren't that many brilliant right backs around at the moment and the days of Cafu are long gone. He was amazing

Terry (CB) - Despite what United fans may tell you, he's clearly the best centre-back in England.

Vidic (CB) - The best non-english centre-back in England

Cashley (LB) - Controversial, but I rate him as the best left back in the world. Even if he is a tit.

Gattuso (DM) - He's a beast and he's probably shagged your mum. Unlucky.

Kaka (AM) - How he doesn't feature in some people's XI's is astonishing. Even when he has a bad game he's still amazing.

Messi (LM) - As if I need to explain.

Ronaldo (RM) - As if I need to explain.

Torres (ST) - The best in the world atm.

Villa (ST) - Annoying little greasy spick but a good one.

And Essien can be 12th man.

Terry's actual technical skills are pretty damn poor compared to other defenders around the world. Same type as Carragher, has to perform last ditch tackles which get him noticed, due to earlier inadequacies. He's not even the best centre-half at his club.

Gk: Cech (some doubt about this but he's usually excellent)

Right-back: Ramos
Centre-back: Ferdinand
Centre-back: Carvalho
Left-Back: Evra

Right-wing: Ronaldo
Centre-midfield: Essien
Centre-midfield: Xavi
Left-wing: Messi

Just off Striker: Kaka
Striker: Torres (having to say that hurt)

Subs: Gomes, Bramble, Andy O'Brian, Ameobi and Dong.

Joe, out of interest, which Cech is starting, and which one is on the bench?:p

LOLZ it's meant to say Casillas. mvaughan why don't you have the best player in the world in your team. Isn't Boruc an alky.

Oh and fearsome tweak Gerrard you tweaking scouse **** I tweaking hate you, prick faced twat you tweaking inbred piece of tweaking ****.

I dont have Ronaldo in my team because I have Messi, who I think is far more dangerous. Ronaldo will probably win whatever awards there are for last season, but I reckon Messi is the better player overall. Both of them play for sad teams.

United aren't sad we're the best club in the world. Ronaldo is better than Messi. Messi might be better at running past people but footballs about putting the ball in the back of the net and no-one can do it like Ronaldo.

I think that Cech makes too many crucial mistakes. So the next best would be Casillas to be honest. I'd go with Daniel Alves as a right back. There are very few good right backs in the world so I'd have to go with Alves. Left back would be Gael Clichy for me. It's a bit of a weird one but I rate him very highly. I haven't seen enough of Chivu or Lahm recently to be able to put them in my team. Centre backs for me would be John Terry and Nemanja Vidic. As much as I think he's a nob, Terry is a class player. Vidic is a no nonsense defender that you need. Ronaldo and Messi on the right and left. No doubt, no questions asked. In the centre would be Xavi and Kaka. Kaka is a world class player. He is truly amazing. Xavi is as solid a rock. He is class. Up front is a toughie. Torres is a definite for me. I'd put him up front with David Villa.

So my team would be:

Iker Casillas
Daniel Alves--John Terry--Nemanja Vidic--Gael Clichy
Cristiano Ronaldo--Xavi--Kaka--Leo Messi
Fernando Torres--David Villa

Subs:
Petr Cech
Ricardo Carvalho
Michael Essien
Andreas Iniesta
Miroslav Klose

Fernando Torres might have lit up the Premiership, but David Villa is actually a better player, and is more than just a striker. The Euros clearly showed that. Both are still way better than the next guy nevertheless.

I think its fair to say that Daniel Alves and Sergio Ramos are two best right backs in the world. Ramos has not been that good this season, but he has already proved his worth before. Both are so good because they have the ability to defend and attack, thereby also playing the role of a winger whenever needed. For Barcelona, Alves allows Messi to play as a right striker than a right winger, while for Real Madrid, the same can be said for Sergio Ramos and Gonzalo Higuain.
