World ODI Team?

its surprising not to see kallis in any of the teams.

This is based on current season form. I find it quite baffling as to why McCullum is only making a few teams. His stats read: 14 Matches, 53.66 average, 109.89 Strike-Rate, 6 fifties, though no centuries. He's the 6th highest run scorer this season. I think people are kind of put off selecting them because they want to pick Dhoni. It's simple. Pick both like I did. I had to toss up between Kallis and Oram, I went for Oram since I'm not sure Kallis is currently bowling and even if he is, I think Oram has been handier lately.

Yeah, McCullum's had one good season. McCullum averages 25, Hayden & Tendulkar & Dhoni average 44. McCullum plays on really small grounds in NZ aswell which helps his strike-rate incrediably.

Steyn in ODIs? Stats don't tell the whole story, but 15 wickets at 35.33 with an economy rate of 5.52 paints a picture of someone who is not too good with the white ball. Bizarrely though, he has shown himself a very good T20 bowler.

I suppose Ishant Sharma is a specialist ODI bowler now as his Test bowling average is 45?

He averages 25 because he used to bat at 7 and wasn't so good when he started, he's getting better every season and right now his consistency and hitting power can't be matched. Since opening he averages over 50. He doesn't need small grounds. His sixes go miles over the boundary.

I doubt he'd average 50+ if he played his whole ODI career as an opener. His average would be quite similar to what it is now if he had've opened his entire career as his been playing International cricket since an early age.

Hayden, Tendulkar & Dhoni have all highest scores of over 180 in ODI's which is incredible and they all average in the mid 40's.

Dhoni is a flexible ODI player in the middle order as he can consolidate and then attack when required. His a very mature ODI batsman and can play a variety of different rolls.

And if you're comparing McCullum to Tendulkar or Hayden as a batsman then you're on a hiding to nothing. Both are also quality slip fieldsmen.

If you had decent reading skills you'd have noticed I never did compare those two with McCullum. McCullum does have a superior record this season so therefore made my side. Now get over it. I still have the other 2 players in there. Tendulkar is a number 3 as far as i'm concerned.

Nobody here considering Lasith Malinga? quality ODI bowler imo, brilliant at the death. Jayawardena is also a fantastic ODI batsman, amongst the very best and hugely under-rated.
