Tendulkar as captain?!
yah because he is the most experienced and above that he has always been the most skilled and talented player in ODIs so i think he can be a good captain...
Tendulkar as captain?!
well looking at your squad there isn't a better option for a captain, im going to reorder my 11 and add some new players.
Hayden
Smith
Chanderpaul
Sangakkara
De Villiers
Dhoni *+
Pathan
Vettori
Lee
Bracken
Steyn
I have taken out Afridi and put Pathan instead because Afridi is just too inconsistent with the bat, also taken out Mills and put in Steyn who is just in such a good form to be left out. and replaced Tendulkar with Chanderpual, Chanders like Steyn has been in such a good form and he showed that in the ODI series against Sri Lanka. Also Ponting is out and Sangakkara is in.
Matthew Hayden
Brendon McCullum (wk)
Gautam Gambhir
Sachin Tendulkar
Mohammad Yousuf
Andrew Symonds
Dimitri Mascarenhas
Daniel Vettori (c)
Brett Lee
Nathan Bracken
Ryan Sidebottom
lololol.You're missing out Pieterson, Dhoni, Sanga, Mike Hussey, Dale Steyn, and Mathew Hayden
Other than McCullum, Yousuf, Mascareanas, Bracken, Sidebottom, your squad is pretty good.
lololol.
Sorry, I didn't pick this team on reputation. McCullum is probably the player making the most waves right now. Dhoni is well worth picking, but McCullum is one who is massively paying off for anyone who watches his every innings. He has grown into his skin and it's now apparent how much of him there is.
Bracken is the least disputable member of any current ODI lineup. Such pressure is placed on the bowlers in the first 20 overs, that it is important to have new ball bowlers who actually do the job. You suggested Dale Steyn; why should I pick someone who averages 13 runs more? When Steyn is a notable ODI player, I will consider him.
Mohammad Yousuf was one of the few players whose form in the past year barely flinched between the minnows and the bigwigs. His scoring rate has always been more consistent than the players he is usually compared with, like Kallis or Chanderpaul or Dravid. I don't see any better guarantee on the price of a wicket than MoYo right now.
Pietersen has been pathetic apart from the T20s, which this is not a measure of. So too, has Sangakkara. I really would have liked to include either Sangakkara or Jayawardene, but they have not been consistent. I'm not going to pick players who aren't at their best, because I might as well pick Bradman.
Similarly, Hussey has had a lean patch in ODIs and there are just too many players to include one who isn't filling me with confidence. No one seems to care about omitting Ponting, but he has actually scored 3 centuries since the World Cup. The standards are high and the requirements are particular.
I've got Gambhir followed by Tendulkar. I actually chose Gambhir before Tendulkar. Tendulkar is still quite prolific, but it definitely seems to be more of an effort for him to get a big score now. Gambhir is one of the players in the Indian lineup who seems to have a handle on his skills and can really produce match winning scores. The recent CBS was fought on difficult ground and he often did it with aplomb. So long as he is batting, India look confident and in control. He is also good in the field and this can't be understated.
I knew Dimi would be a contentious selection, but you have to consider the no. 7 position in the modern ODI game. Although only a recent débutante, Mascarenhas' batting has been incredible. Even if his average falls ten runs, his strikerate would still deliver a better slog batsman than Shahid Afridi. On form, he has as good an ability to find the rope as anyone. He is also an all-rounder. His bowling might not have yet showed penetration, but where are the all-rounders who have shown that Flintoff style flair? Mascarenhas is capable of giving very tight overs. He is a modern all-rounder. I find his combination to provide the ideal no. 7 all-rounder out of the current possibilities.
I'm not even going to defend Ryan Sidebottom. You tell me why he's a bad bowler.

World One-day team.Well this sure is tough selection.
1. Virender Sehwag
2. Matthew Hayden
3. Ricky Ponting
4. Mike Hussey
5. Yuvraj Singh
6. AB de Villiers
7. Paul Collingwood
8. Brett Lee
9. Nathan Bracken
10. Chaminda Vaas
11. Daniel Vettori
A few others to make up the 15:
* Andrew Symonds
* MS Dhoni
* Albie Morkel
* Graeme Smith
Time and again he has proven that he could be in running for India's worst ever captain.Though looking at your team,there cant be any choice.I'd rather give it to the keeper or to Misbah.
