World Test Team

Very, very weird looking lineup. I thought it might be a one day side - but then Dravid and Steyn are there.

No,it isnt.Most of them are good dpendable batsmen who can frustarate the opposition on any given day.You have Hayden and Smith to attack ,the rest to defend.Maybe i could replace Misbah with Laxman.Yes i'll.

waaaat, wtf is that. i think you could have fit more Indian players in there, there have been a few teams posted by fans of India but none were as bad as yours.

this is the best team as india is ranked 2 in the world and future champio ns so most players will be indians,tell me on the oplayers who disagree fool,not only say rubbish things

well foooool what did you expect we are 2 nd a nd future no 1 so most players hould be fom our team not yours two mediiocore teams
who get beaten all the time

You're second in the world, so you put half your team in there?

First off, Dhoni isn't even your test captain, so how does he manage to get the world gig? Secondly, Sangakkara is miles ahead of him.

As for the rest, it's just overkill. Sharma is a good youngster, but he's only just emerged. There are plenty better than him. It seems to me that all you cared about was aggression in your selection too. That, and nationality.

I agree with Dean,you have selected a team favoring India.Anyways,you could look at some SriLankans too.

My Team which is a team of substance and not hype and can play on any surface in the world

1-Hayden{attacking opener}
2-Shewag{attacking opener and off spinner}}
3-Dravid{solid player will hold one end up for others to play freely]
4-Tendulkar[allround player]
5-Kevin petierson[attacking player}/sangakara
6-V.V.S Laxman{Plays well in pressure situations}
7-M.S Dhoni[Captain}
8-Anil kumble{good on all surfaces}
9-Brett lee{atacking bowler}
10-Ishant Sharma[attacking bowler}
11-zaheer khan{holding bowler}

If the pitch is flat then flintoff as allrounder in place of laxman

reason for not picking asif -he depends too much on surface is ordinary on pit ches which do not seam
dale steyn-he is only hype
murali-also depends on slow pitches

ok "fool" here are some players "fool", Ponting, Sangakkara, Hussey, Jayawardene, Kallis all deserve to be picked ahead of Dravid and Laxman "fool". "fool" Australia is #1 and you only have 2 of their players, India is number 2 "fool" and you have 8 of them "fool". Steyn, Sidebottom and even Asif all deserve to be picked ahead of Khan and Sharma. and what cricket have you been watching to say that Murli only depends on slow pitches did you maybe miss the Sri lanka tour of England "fool". Asif did great in the 1 test that he played against England and was great against South Africa in South Africa "fool". Sehwag, Tendulkar and Dhoni are the only Indians that deserve a spot in world XI from your squad and Kumble does too thats why a few of us have included him alongside Murli because we aren't as ignorant as you are "fool" to not include the best bowler in the world atm.

the question is who deserves to be in the world XI at the moment not the future did you look into the crystal ball and predict that all of Indias players are going to be the best in 2 years.

Probably-

Sehwag
Hayden
Dravid
Ponting
Pietersen
Sangakkara
Kallis
Sidebottom
Lee
Murali
Kumble/Steyn

Hmm,can we not select a 15 ?
I mean,its better than confining yourself to only 11.

I agree with you. But -

Pollock captained both the African XI and World XI (I think?) During the Afro-Asia cup and Super Series. This was still whilst Smith was in charge.

So it is possible.

In my books Mahela is the best test captain.

yea but obviously at the moment and over the last 3 years Sangakkara has been way ahead of Laxman. the difference in averages is big, Sangakkara averages 56 while Laxman averages 44.
overall Sangakkara is a better batsman than Laxman on any day.

They're both very similar types of batsman, with their approaches to batting.
Wristy and graceful, really own the pull shot.

Both are class.

After ridiculing him so much, you go and say that, bravo. Only you could even come close to mucking up such an easy KO.

Well in his team he listed Sangakkara as a specialist batsman, after Sanga Dhoni is the next best choice for the WK spot. If you were making a world XI and you played Sanga as a specialist batsman than Dhoni would be the WK of choice and that is what i meant when i said that he is one of 3 Indians that deserve a spot in world XI.
If Sanga was his WK than obviously Dhoni wouldn't even come close to making the team.

I agree with that team except for maybe Dravid. Sidebottom defiently warrants selection. Did Dravid have a good series against South Africa? I've kinda zoned out from cricket after the CB Series.

Ok, I want comments on my XI

1) Hayden
2) Shivarine Chanderpaul
3) Rahul Dravid (captain)
4) Sachin Tendulkar
5) Mike Hussey (current best test batsmen formwise)
6) Kevin Pieterson/Flintoff at his best
7) Sangakarra (wk)
8) Brett Lee
9) Dale Steyn
10) Ishant Sharma
11) Muralitharan

12th man) Daniel Vettori

If Flintoff plays, he should certainly go number 7 and Chanderpaul has only ever opened twice in Tests. Ishant Sharma bowled well but did not take the wickets against Australia; as well as being an unproven talent at Test level, Sidebottom is a far better, more proven pace bowler who brings variety to the attack. Rahul Dravid is in poor form and so it'd be best to play VVS Laxman, in his place, who has a good record at three as well as being in good form.
