World Test Team

Zaheer instead of Sidebottom ? You're joking right ?
It's not as crazy as not picking Matthew Hayden as one of your openers.

Griffo's Team
1. Sehwag
2. Hayden
3. Ponting (c)
4. Tendulkar
5. Pietersen
6. Sangakkara (wk)
7. Flintoff
8. Lee
9. Clark
10. Steyn
11. Murali

I can beat that with all different players...

Manee's Team
1. Graeme Smith
2. Alistair Cook
3. Rahul Dravid
4. Jacques Kallis
5. Shivnarene Chanderpaul
6. VVS Laxman
7. MS Dhoni (wk)
8. Anil Kumble
9. RP Singh
10. Mohammad Asif
11. Ryan Sidebottom

Okay, that was pretty hard.
Griffo's team wins by a country mile.

My Team which is a team of substance and not hype and can play on any surface in the world

1-Hayden{attacking opener}
2-Shewag{attacking opener and off spinner}}
3-Dravid{solid player will hold one end up for others to play freely]
4-Tendulkar[allround player]
5-Kevin petierson[attacking player}/sangakara
6-V.V.S Laxman{Plays well in pressure situations}
7-M.S Dhoni[Captain}
8-Anil kumble{good on all surfaces}
9-Brett lee{atacking bowler}
10-Ishant Sharma[attacking bowler}
11-zaheer khan{holding bowler}

If the pitch is flat then flintoff as allrounder in place of laxman

reason for not picking asif -he depends too much on surface is ordinary on pit ches which do not seam
dale steyn-he is only hype
murali-also depends on slow pitches

Haha, you're a biased idiot. Steyn averages 21 in test cricket, Ishant Sharma has played 5 tests and averages 45. As for Murali depending on slow pitches, you must be joking. He's taken the most wickets of any test match bowler ever. He's only struggled in Australia, but averages 19 in England, 19 in New Zealand, 26 in South Africa (not easy for spinners), and 21 in West Indies. He's a far, far better bowler than Kumble. That is the most biased team i've ever seen, Laxman instead of Sangakkara and Kallis. LOL.

Hayden
Sehwag
Ponting (c)
Tendulkar
Chanderpaul
Hussey
Sangakkara (wk)
Lee
Steyn
Asif
Muralitharan

1. M Hayden
2. G Smith
3. R Dravid - vc
4. R Sarwan
5. R Ponting -c
6. K Sangakarra -wk
7. VVS Laxman
8. D Steyn
9. B Lee
10. N Bracken
11. M Muralitharan

Very, very weird looking lineup. I thought it might be a one day side - but then Dravid and Steyn are there.

Its tough but this is what I would say is a good world XI:

1. Matthew Hayden [Australia]
2. Alastair Cook [England]
3. Ricky Ponting [Australia] (captain)
4. Shivnarine Chanderpaul [West Indies]
5. Mohammad Yousuf [Pakistan]
6. Jacques Kallis [South Africa]
7. Kumar Sangakkara [Sri Lanka] (wicketkeeper)
8. Ryan Sidebottom [England]
9. Brett Lee [Australia]
10. Stuart Clark [Australia]
11. Muttiah Muralidaran [Sri Lanka]

Again, Sharma instead of Lee ? What has Sharma done that's really impressed in test cricket ? Lee's been the best bowler in the world for a good year or so now. He should be in everyone's team tbh.

I don't particularly see how Stuart Clark can be left out for Dale Steyn. I don't think you could afford to have both Steyn and Lee in the same side - Steyn has too many bad days at the moment whilst Lee has really only developed the consistency he's showing lately in the last two or so years.

I did say there was a lot to think about. My XI now looks like this with your suggestions:

1. Matthew Hayden [Australia]
2. Alastair Cook [England]
3. Ricky Ponting [Australia] (captain)
4. Shivnarine Chanderpaul [West Indies]
5. Mohammad Yousuf [Pakistan]
6. Jacques Kallis [South Africa]

8. Ryan Sidebottom [England]
9. Brett Lee [Australia]
10. Stuart Clark [Australia]
11. Muttiah Muralidaran [Sri Lanka]

I see, a controlled fast bowler with an accurate medium pacer.

waaaat, wtf is that. i think you could have fit more Indian players in there, there have been a few teams posted by fans of India but none were as bad as yours.

Laxman instead of Sangakkara and Kallis. LOL.

Sanga might have been on fantastic form the last year or so, but there's nothing funny about that, to be honest, VVS Laxman is in a class of his own at times.

I'd like to make a few changes to my team, most changes are to the batting order:

Hayden
Cook (replacing Vaughan)
Ponting (C)
Tendulkar
Pietersen
Kallis
Sangakkara (Wk)
Lee
Steyn
Sidebottom
Muralitharan

I've chosen to replace Vaughan with Cook and also swap Kallis and Sangakkara around so that Sanga is batting at a conventional wicket-keepers spot at 7, with the all-rounder at 6. Flintoff would probably come in for Kallis if he was fit and on form though. I'm happy with my 3 bowlers, the 3 fast bowlers in the best form in world cricket alongside the best spinner ever, Muralitharan. Chuffed with that team.

yea but obviously at the moment and over the last 3 years Sangakkara has been way ahead of Laxman. the difference in averages is big, Sangakkara averages 56 while Laxman averages 44.
overall Sangakkara is a better batsman than Laxman on any day.
