World XI Clinch series with easy victory

The World Xi have won the second test match to clinch the series with one game to go. Man of the match went to Kevin Pietersen for his 126 and 60*. Dale Steyn picked up another 4 wickets and Matthew Hoggard picked up six. The most notable Pakistani performance was from was Younus Khan with his 88 in the second innings.

Kamran Akmal was the player of the innings with his 72.


Matthew Hoggard and Kamran Akmal both played excellent roles for each team in the first innings. The Pakistani's wont be happy with 3 players getting out in the 40's but know that they can score runs against this dangerous World Xi bowling unit. Salman Butt and Kamran Akmal started the innings off well with a good opening stand of 122.

KP hit an excellent 126 as the World Xi reached 455 a/o

Kevin Pietersen played a major role for the World Xi in helping them post a total of 450+. He shared a stand of 216 with Aussie Skipper Ricky Ponting as the two combined with a mixture of grace and power. Hussey and Kallis both chipped in with 64 and 48 respectively.

Younis Khan hit a graceful 88 to help Pakistan produce a respectable total.

Younis Khan was the only Pakistan batsmen that really got in and scored some runs. With only two batsmen in the whole innings scoring more than 30. The other player to score more than thirty was the Rawlpindi Express Shoaib Ahktar. It was the combination of Kallis and Panesar that took most of the wickets. With Steyn and Hoggard chipping in with two apeice.

Matthew Hayden was dimissed for a second ball duck.

With only 128 needed things didnt start well for World Xi with Haydos being dismissed for a second ball duck. Smith and Pietersen then played well to take the score to 92 before Smith fell to Danish for 48. It was easy work from there on with KP bringing up his fifty. The World Xi then won with 8 wickets to spare and it was only just about to turn two o clock on the fourth day.
