Worst fielders in the modern game?

Tait is up there as one of the worst about. James Franklin is no Jonty either. Most of the poor ones have been mentioned so far, although I feel you've been a bit harsh including McGrath.

He rarely drops anything, and his throws are often bang above the stumps. He may not be the most athletic in the field these days, but he does all the basics right.

Powar, Corrymore (underarm throws from the deep??)
Pietersen from the little i've seen of him. And ofcourse 95% of the Pakistani team (no offense)
The best, India have some, not to toot my own horn :p Kaif, Raina, and Yuvi, not to forget the golden arm of Tendulkar and MANY slips.
Aussies are always top class, Collingwood is just awesome.

I would suggest you see some more of him then ;) He had an inexplicable time of it at home to Australia, but has shown since then that he is in fact a very good fielder. Quick on his feet, throws himself about a bit, and has a good arm and safe pair of hands. Apparently they reckon he was walking in too quickly during the last Ashes and as such was never able to set himself for a catch, since then though he's barely dropped anything and constantly prowls the covers and the backward point region.

Tremmlett in the CB Series!!!! What a pathetic effort!!!! And Murali has the worst arm in world cricket!!!!

Yousuf is pretty poor too. Glenn McGrath as well.
Difficult to say McGrath is. Has a very strong and accurate throw, so he is very useful at 3rd man.

Tait must be borderline. The CB Series has shown that he can't catch, can't slide and takes 2 hours to get a throw from the boundary onto the wicket.

Well his throw is due to his recent injury, the selectors were worried about his throwing strength. He'll be up there though.

McGrath was alright in his prime obviously age has caught up with him now.

But when he gets to the ball he looks like a grandpa on the field, he still has a very accurate throw but his acceleration is rather poor nowadays and obviously age is the cause of it.

Murali is also a pretty poor fielder and has a weak arm, probably because of the shoulder injury he had in past years. I wonder how Warne would have faired in the outfield, he very rarely fielded outside of the slips and we never really got to see how good he was in the outfield.

I remember going to the cricket on the last day of the Sydney Test against SA in 2006, McGrath taking a dive and missing the ball on the boundry and getting all dirty and then my dad took a crack at him for it. All in good fun though. ;)

Wouldn't call McGrath a bad fielder at all though.
I always thought Warne was overrated as a slips fieldsmen though.

Probably one of the Pakistan's or Murali would be the worse, I'd reckon.

Generally sub con teams are consist of many poor fielders who ALWAYS come off the field at the end of the day in a clean uniform but definitely Murali.

I think more proof of KP being a good fielder is that in the Natwest tri series he caught everything.

Lots of names popping up which tells me that fielding standards have gone down contrary to what commentators say.

Don't know about the other teams but our standards have definitely gone down especially in the 05 Ashes. Far too many dropped catches by our usually high standards and we're seen a few easy ones put down this season too.
