Bottom line is, I don?t think sahkib is a bad player for BANGLADESH. But telling he can play for any test team is like telling ?the Chinese fast bowler ?ai cangt bowlu fasto? can play for Australia?

ohhh worlds best players do mate, trust me.. take sri lanka before murali and after murali

I find that rather racist personally. Please watch your language in the future.

Murali's different. He's one of the best players ever. I'm saying Shakib is the best pure all-rounder in the world at the moment. Rated against the best there have ever been, he would be rather far down the list.

Shakib has never played a test against Zimbabwe. So I fail to see how that affects his stats.

Shakib is the John Reid of his time. A quality player in a minnow side, just like how Reid was recognized as such a player in the NZ side before 1961/62.

Yea I agree. He was an outstanding player, even though NZ as a whole weren't very good back then.

Nathan Hauritz and Xavier Doherty dont often get to play with ZIM and non test nations like you shakib do mate :)

True...but Shakib is a different story....even if you take off Zimbabwe and see compare his performances with the other nations to that of Hauritz and Xavier...Shakib would be ahead by a mile...but again Shakib is a player from my country so I do rate him a tad bit higher then his actual potential but don't blame me for that. And I agree that he is kind of a John Reid of Bangladesh but you can't compare him to Muralitharan or Shane Warne or Mcgrath that is almost like comparing Junaid Siddique to somebody like Stephen Fleming or Ricky Ponting....i hope you get my point.

I am pretty sure Shakib would make the playing XI of any test side other than India/SL . And maybe unlucky to miss out on RSA due to their balanced attack , though i feel paul Harris is crap and Shakib could well take his place . Can't understand why your being so harsh on him ??

fine,
let me show you something about the worlds best all-rounder who can get in to any team!!!

Shakib al hasan's ODI record vs all test playing nations other then ZIM

Batting Average - 28.30
Bowling Average - 41.58

my friend,

Shakib al hasan's ODI record vs all test playing nations other then ZIM

His bowling average is actually 36 and batting 28.74 when you exclude those, over his whole career.

Over the last three years however, he averages 32.79 with the bat and 30.62 with the ball, at an economy rate of 4.47.

In tests he averages 31.02 with the bat and 32.13 with the ball which improves to an average of 34.35 with the bat and 29.11 with the ball over the last three years.

he's talking about Shakib's performance against the other Test playing nations except Zim. in the last three years and not his whole career...Shakib was horrible in 2006 and 2007(especially his bowling...i didn't even know he could bowl back then) if I remember correctly :p

And you're saying that I'm not?

Come on dude, seriously

The world?s best all-rounder, bowling Average is 41.58 with all the test nations other then ZIM after playing 62 matches ?..

I don?t know what more I can say to prove my point

He's the best all-rounder of the World now at this moment...not the Best All-Rounder of all time...just check if Watson was this good when he just started off

It's like you're ignoring my statistics completely

i am not, but when you see the overall statistics, i am sure all the other alrounders in the world must be hurt then people say this guy us the worlds best ...

:facepalm

Lass , does 32 seem a bad bowling average for a spinner in tests ??

well not bad, avarage at best for me !!! :)

mate, even jacob oram had a batting average of 50.38 and bowling 33.... i dont remember people saying he was the worlds best, do you

I think this is getting more towards War's point that there just aren't any real bowling all-rounders at the moment, unless you count Mitchell Johnson as one.
