You've been Warnered!

You just cannot read or comprehend what has been said at all

NO one ever expected him to be as good as bradman, no one even expected him to be a great player.
He will be a handy player who sometimes will fire an sometimes not and prob end up with an avg around 30.

He averages 17.

And 30 is an average for a No.7 batsman, not an opener, particularly in these days....

This guy looks like a Shahid Afridi--except less productive (if that's even possible!)

I wish he would play like Afridi i.e the no fear. Seems to have too much fear of getting out and then getting dropped for failing. When I saw him in the FRC he was basically smashing most balls.

In ODIs, an average of 30 is pretty acceptable if you're doing what Warner is supposed to do. Gilly averaged 35, and he is seen as a pretty awesome ODI player. That's not saying I reckon Warner will average 30 though, I don't reckon he's good enough, and they should push Haddin up to that slogging position, he's at his best when he's playing big shots.

The Herald Sun said:
ERAS in cricket are commonly defined by legendary individual deeds.

There was W.G. Grace, the 19th century Englishman who revolutionised the art of batting and became the game's first celebrity.

Much later came the mean-spirited England captain, Douglas Jardine, who took gamesmanship to a new level in the 1930s with his bodyline tactics against Don Bradman.

Then, the 1970s heralded the arrival of modern cricket's most influential Australian, Kerry Packer, whose contribution was a money tree and the seeds of today's player power.

Now, as we move towards the second decade of the 21st century, we suddenly have a new name: David Warner, a one-time concrete cutter from the eastern suburbs of Sydney.

Maybe you should read back before you ridicule someone else.

Warner, just hit the bloody thing as hard as you can. I think the hype/expectations/pressure are weighing him down atm because he doesn't look like the free spirit he was in that T20. Hes still a young guy with little experience at this level (or any level for that matter). I don't mind sticking with him till Marsh/Watson gets back to the team but maybe its better for him to go back to NSW and just focus on his cricket away from the media.

Agree with that. Chuck out that grade cricketer Warner and get in Haddin who can mean business. He did not a bad job for NSW opening right? Atleast he can do a better job opening than what smhmuck he;s doing at No.7 these days.

And perhaps Hopes also be pushed up the order.

He's crap.

He will remain crap unless he really transforms himself in state cricket. At the moment, he is a one trick pony, and even that trick is not good enough.

maybe you should read what you just quoted an tell me where it says he is going to be as good as bradman.

There talking about the impact his selection will have on cricket players in grade cricket throughout australia.
His impact could be like the impact from those mentioned in the article.

Not once has anyone ever said he will be as good as all those players.

Lol at the posts above. Are you guys kids or what? One is comparing Warner with Bradman- the other is slamming him- really.....you guys should go to some nursery school....

Anyway, I don't think Warner is an overrated player. This guy has a lot of talent- the ideal opener for the aussie T-20 side, but in ODI's- well, maybe he's just not that good in the ODI's. It is nowhere written that a good T-20 player must also be a good ODI player. Gulam Bodi, Yusuf Pathan, Ravinder Jadeja- these guys are known more for their T-20 stats than their ODI stats. But that doesn't mean they are crap players. They are extremely talented folks- but ODI is just not the right game for them. And give Warner some time- he is completely new to this business- he has played just 16 domestic matches. So my suggestion- make Warner a regular in the aussie T-20 side, drop him from the ODI's (there are loads of other openers- Watson, Hughes- give these guys some chances) and make him play a lot of domestic matches- make him experienced, then, maybe bring him back to the ODI's.

This kid has a certain talent there is no doubt about that, but lets not forget, he is still only young. The kid will learn from this, take him back into domestic cricket, and try again in a year or two. Maybe then he'll come out and made some good scores for Australia

Australia has been desperate for a hero this summer and it only took a couple of large hits for Warner to be that hero.

I think 50 overs looks too much for him. Keep him as a T20 specialist until he's proven that he can bat 'properly' - not just slogging. Marsh and Watson should feel pretty safe about their jobs at the moment IMO.

Warner was picked while his form for NSW was at it's peak, and he luckily transferred that into his first international game.

His form will never ever get better than it was then, and now that he is out of sorts he is showing that he is just a cross bat slogger who had some luck and came off in his first game.

Warner will go the way of DiVenuto, a one season wonder (or a 2 innings wonder), except Warner doesn't have the class to have a decent county career.
