You've been Warnered!

Pffft. Australia is not the only nation in the world that plays cricket. To elicit mention in the same breath as WG Grace and Don Bradman, sadly requires Warner to be atleast reborn again.

You quoted an AUSTRALIAN news report, why the hell would we care about any other countries upcoming talent.

And if you actually read the entire article (which i might add, was written on the 12th of January shortly after the 20/20 series) you might understand what its about. Until then, blab on about your hatred towards anything and everything Australian, see who cares!

There was no comparison to WG Grace. I see the article in the same way that Syl did, just basically talking about the way the game's developed and is currently evolving. They were not trying to post an argument for David Warner being as good a player as Grace or Bradman. You doing this, is exactly the same as someone else recently trying to claim that Ian Chappell disagreed with the ICC All-time player rankings, even though he only mentioned them in a 1 sentence comment. You're wrong......again.

Haha, what? What qualification has Warner got in "changing" the face of the game like WG or Don did? That's insane!

And if you're talking about him debuting in a T20 International (Mickey mouse cricket for you Dan), without experience in FC, that's blasting through the event horizon of savage idiocy. And to think about it, Warner is NOT the first person to do that, Sohail Tanvir did that in T20 WC 07, and has proved to be a real gem in the shortest format. Talk about ignorance coupled with hype.

Yeah it's the same logic here too Dan. And I was saying Chappell agreed to that list, not disagreed.

The author obviously thinks that Warner will do to Aussie cricket what Bradman did in his time. But why Warner? Is he the first Twenty20 player or anything? Looks like, one day the author woke up from his deep slumber and said " Hey, look it's the Sun!"

It's the same logic mate. And you are again denying the author said something he quite obviously did.

Gee mate, I wouldnt speak too much if i was you. You clearly stuggled to understand those ICC rankings (failed to read), and yet again, your failing to read again!

The article is CLEARY talking about revolutionary moments in cricket. In this case how young inspriring crickerters have an alternitive pathway into international cricket, without even wearing the baggy green cap

Quotes -

"David Warner, a one-time concrete cutter from the eastern suburbs of Sydney.
"It sounds almost nonsensical to put into this category a 22-year-old batsmen who is yet to play a first-class match and has made one appearance for Australia in the hit-and-hurry format of Twenty20.

What precisely to make of him is difficult. Could he be a KFC-endorsed comet who will leave us with little more than wistful recollections of that balmy January evening back in '09 when a hurricane hit the MCG?

Now, colour and format will matter even less to thousands of aspiring Australian cricketers who watched Warner stroll straight from grade cricket and bludgeon a respected international attack into total submission.

As of today, kids will look to him and see an alternative pathway to riches and stardom.

Fine. Warner is making a new pathway for young Aussie cricketers to follow? That's great I say. But the reason why I posted, is because I don't think it's the the same as what Bradman did for cricket? To quote Bradman, and imply that Warner will do to cricket, or even Aussie cricket what Bradman did, is sheer hyperbole.

Of course it is. The article was written after that first 20/20 match, where everyone at the MCG that night was in awe of this no name Warner bloke.

I'm sure if the author wrote the article now after Warners 'okay' ODI series, his opening paraghraphs would be quite different

Lack of experience was flashed in Warner's batting today .

the guy times bowl really very well, hope for better cricket from the Australian batting side. hope he is not in the IPL list of Auction, if there Mumbai Indians should not bid for him :)

You didn't watch the game today did you Chetan? Warner showed a far better temperament than Ponting today. Getting out the way he did wasn't because of lack of experience, but he was just pure unlucky. He was doing his job, backing up, but got caught out. Was not a lack of experience.

Hussey and Warner. i didn't watch the second innings full, but in between. maybe not a lack of experience

Warner was brought in with too much inexperience at being under pressure and therefore has really let the team down.
Given a bit more time and he'll settle down and become a very good aggresive player!

There,that's my two cents worth!:D

This guy looks like a Shahid Afridi--except less productive (if that's even possible!)
So true.

Lol, at the hullabboo associated with him after his T20 debut! Bradman Mark II? Afridi Mark II without the bowling.
