Who deserves a place in the Indian ODI side?

Dhoni has become more...'calm' since receiving captaincy, but to call him 'Dravidesque' is dumb.

I still find him unreliable, but that's just me.

I know you are probably playing the technique card here but I meant in terms of results, not in terms of method.

Anyways, considering it would wreck havoc if I dropped Yuvraj -

Gautam Gambhir
Sachin Tendulkar
Subramanium Badrinath
Suresh Raina
Yuvraj Singh
Dinesh Karthik/Sharma/Nayar/Tiwary/Dhawan
MS Dhoni
Piyush
Zaheer
Sreesanth
Ishant (:S)

Looks good.

Good side, but 'be a man' and decide who you want to bat six. I truly think it is time for Tendulkar to settle to bat three or in the middle order now. Chappell moved him there too early, but now we have Gambhir and Sehwag, a safe and solid opening pair who can be nurtured for the future.

All Dhoni needs to do is rotate his batsmen as well as he rotates his bowlers. That way, everyone's happy.

Dhoni has become very reliable.

Kaif wasn't unjustly dropped. But as I remember, he kept getting shuffuled around the lineup and was in the team one day and out the next. So he wasn't really given a fair chance.

VRV is still raw, but he has the potential. And Yusuf Pathan isn't a terrible bowler, he won us the IPL! :p

Hopefully, with the new professionalisation () of the NCA, he'll be able to be nurtured instead of stagnating as so many have before him. I don't know what it is, but he really is a wicket taking machine in domestic cricket, picking one pretty much every other ball (with the other one getting hit for four:)).

Right now i'd go with Dhawan, he's in red hot form.

Depending on how Karthik goes in Sri Lanka he could get a shout too.

I'd rather "rest" (;)) Yuvraj though for a series and play two of the upcoming batsman (Tiwary and Dhawan)

And about Tendulkar moving down the order - No. Sehwag IMO is still a waste in ODI's. The Asia cup performances are nothing to go by, the pitches sucked. He's still India's most unreliable batsman. Tendulkar is best when he opens and the ball comes on to the bat. Plus, he's our best batsman, and we should play him wherever he wants to.

He was great here in Abu Dhabi as well when he came with India A for that tourny a few years ago. Was lethal, destroyed everyone alongside RP.

ya dhawan just scored a 184 not out in the contenders match 20-4's and 5-6's

that deserves a spot in the indian lineup

Doubt he'll play in the ODIs and I know you're too intelligent to be suggesting that Test performances get him into the ODI team.

It entirely depends about whether Tendulkar will play in WC 2011, but if he doesn't, it will be highly unfair to be left without an experienced opener in ODIs if he leaves soon before then.
