Don Bradman Cricket 14 General Discussion

There hasn't actually been any no balls yet - that would be a way to beat the 'maximum' score I hope to set of 60,000 runs. I'm finding it much easier against pace bowlers than spinners, because the top spinner is much faster needs vastly different timing so I always seem to fluff them whereas with pace I can usually get the 10 sixes in a row for the over. I'm saving after each over vs pace and every 3 or 4 consecutive sixes against spin.

I am using the 'Forfeit the game' option to get back to the menu and reload whenever I fail, so my games played/games won ratio in the stats page is horrendous, and I'm not aware of any easy way to wipe these :p.

Bud you have too much time on your hands.

There is an easy way. You start the Match and after 1 Ball save it. Now Resume the match and save it after every over. Once you get out simply quit the game to Desktop. Start DBC again and resume the game from last save point (Over before you got out).

Have you tried with no hud?
Yeah and I quite like it, but I have to leave the circle around the ball on because I just can't see the thing when it goes into the outfield most of the time. I have it switch to broadcast camera when I'm running because it's the only one that consistently gives you a good indication of how far away the fielders are from the ball.

Yeah that is an issue. I played with just the trail on for a while to get used to it and I've now pretty much just learned how long the fielders take to get the ball back for a lot of fielding positions, but there are still times when I'm just stuck in the crease not knowing whether to run or not. Especially when my batsman turns his back on the ball when I'm thinking about a second or third run.

And the fact that your partner calls "wait there" for both shots straight to a fielder and into a huge gap isn't very helpful. Sometimes I start a run just so I can get a look at the ball and quickly cancel if there is trouble, but this sometimes gets me out. Especially as when you hit the run button you hear a confident call of "yes", and I sometimes follow that call like a dummy instead of realising that it's just the game responding to my own input rather than confirmation from my partner that there is a run on.

The sun is just about rising on the first day in my maximum challenge... 5:54am and we're 50 overs in, with the score at 3000/0 and both batsmen on 1500*. 5% of the way there... :p

I'm not sure really how you'd go about giving the enough feedback in Pro cam easily without going down the route of using a radar - it would always be difficult to see a ball with no marker on it in a first person view even with much less head bob. An option to turn on the circle around the ball only when in the outfield perhaps, or as you say big improvements to audible aids from the non-striker, which would require some much smarter AI that actually looks for runs on its own.

Well, ball circle for running cam only would be a good start, and would seem to be a straightforward fix.

I also think I could probably do ok if they would just give me right stick control of my batsman's head when I'm running, as a lot of the time the problem is that my batsman is looking the wrong goddamn way and there's nothing I can do about it. Also all the wobbling at the non striker's end is almost nausea inducing so it might help fix that too.

The running AI is pretty ropey so I'm not holding out much hope of ai calls. More of a hope for DBC 15, really.

Also kind of an unrelated point but I really wish I had proper control of my batsman's running rather than just pressing a button to make him run on autopilot, and I'd much rather have full control when running into bowl too. Neither of those is going to happen either.

Guys is there any way that 2 players can play from the same side? i am not able to do that! Help required!

Am i imagining it (quite possible), or has everything slowed after the recent PC patch? The fielders seem to be moving in slow motion, the ball feels slower. It's almost as if the animation is playing at half speed, but the frame-rate is fine. Or it was always like this and I'm just forgetting.
