England's tour of India (Nov '16/Feb '17)

Virat opened the innings and that too as a first ball facer...? I think he has got over-ambitious and extra confident with this decision. As a captain and strong batsman at No.3 Slot, He should not leave his place and take through the innings in middle like he does usually instead of opening. Aggression is good but to a level...

He got 4 hundreds opening the batting in the IPL and Raina is a brilliant number 3 in T20's. So, I don't know what you're talking about.

Fair enough if some opener was missed out and he took a chance,
RCB have too many opening options in Gayle, Rahul, Mandeep, Takawale, Watson, Travis Head.

Comparing IPL with international cricket? Really? Do you think he'll get to face bowlers like Ishwar Pandey and Piyush Chawla?
Well. Kohli opened for bowlers like Mustafizur, Boult, Zak, Shami, Southee, McClenghan, Bumrah, Morne Morkel.

Ishwar Pandey didn't play this season I guess and Piyush Chawla is not bad.

A cakewalk for England or can Indian bowlers make a game out of it?
If Roy plays for than 5 overs its game over for India.

They're a stupid team. And this comes from a really ardent fan. They just don't get it. Gayle should have been dropped two seasons ago. He can't field, will always take 20 balls to take a look in and he can only kick on against weak attacks with timid bowlers in non-consequential games.

YOU TAKE HIM OUT and you get a) a huge amount of money to buy much better players and b) a much better and stable batting line up

RCB batting line up? As follows in my opinion-

Mandeep Singh
Lokesh Rahul
Virat Kohli
AB de Villiers
Ben Stokes (I'm hoping RCB get him) / Shane Watson
Kedar Jadhav
Stuart Binny
Mitchell Starc
Samuel Badree
Srinath Aravind
Yuzvendra Chahal

RCB desperately need some Indian fast bowlers and if they have any sense they'll get Boult as well.

He came and he went.
How do you expect Manish Pandey to come at no 6 and hit 6 sixes for you. ?
He is a top order batsman, who normally bats at no 3/4.
He never got chance. Whenever he got, he was treated like a finisher, but he is not.
And I am sure in the next match they will drop him by saying that he didn't performed well.

I see it in a different perspective. Being Captain is the most important position, When captain goes down the team goes down and its even more important in case of India. Its a huge risk Virat will play If he continues that. Virat's ideal position is No. 3 and thats his place and thats where he can be successful even as a batting captain in my opinion. This also gives the team and openers confidence that Captain is out there. What If captain gets a nick in the first over.. The whole team gets under pressure. He should not change his position for long. Yeah in special cases, Its okay.

Also Rcb plays on the very flat wicket and short boundaries (Chinaswamy) and its their bowling thats needs to improve.

He can nick off at no.3 also. If he gets runs, it doesn't matter where he gets them. He's not the kind to be too fussed about his own batting numbers and positions. While, I also feel he should bat at 3, I don't mind him opening. Anyway, once Rohit is back, he will drop down.

Yeah feel sad for him was benched last year after scoring a hundred and got opportunities in bits and pieces and now got out missing a straight delivery.

Has anyone else observed that Kohli's fielding standards dropped since last series ? Since the time he took over captaincy.
