Best players under 24 ?

if you wanna argue then im up for it,
i aint gonna start an argument on who's better between cook and butt cos they need to have played the same matches and still havent faced all the test nations
i give them both about 30 matches then i will compare them
I doubt either of them can play 30 more Tests before they turn 24.

i dont think thats what he meant, until they have both played 30 tests with no age restrictions and cook is clearly better than salman butt

Keep it on topic lads !!

I wont specify just yet what i want to achieve from this list, but it will be quite exciting for some i imagine. I will update the original post to include the names mentioned by you lot. Could do with a couple of wicket-kepers if possible, have Ramdin already but would like a choice, also have Steve Davies and AB De Villiers.

Thanks

Butt isn't anywhere near Cook. By the end of his career, Cook might be one of the greatest openers to ever live.

i think thats going a bit too far, but he certainly will be good. How many centurys hjas he scored overseas compared to home? cause i cant recall an overseas century other than one in pakistan i believe

He's not played in Pakistan. He's played in Australia and India.

5 vs Aus, 1 century and 276 runs at 27.60
2 vs India, 1 century, 1 half century and 183 runs at 61

He did struggle in Australia, but then many would have in that series as pretty much every Australia bowler was bowling well/very good. He's only had 2 tours and I think he has done well in both for a young player. Two upcoming tours (SL and New Zealand) should be another good test.

so his overseas form is not an issue, which is the key to being a good opener dealing with the new ball in all sorts of different conditions

Fair enough, discuss away. My duty here is done, i have my completed list and everything set up. Announcement will come Friday, with a teaser maybe tonight :P.

It seems quite obvious to me that your gonna make a Under 24 world XI vs a Over 25 World XI and then make some sort of story or something.

what you mean butt isnt anywhere near cook?
Butt made a 100 against them when they were wiping the floor with other teams and notably the rest of the pakistani batsmen

the aussie bowling attack in 2005 is good,
but the 5-0 whitewash and the england batting line up made them look unstoppable.

i would rate the 2004-05 bowling attack of gillespie, kaspa, mcgrath, macgill and warne higher than the 5-0 bowling attack

at that time the gillespie, kaspa and mcgrath combination was at its best

Cook has proven himself against the best best bowlers; Warne, Kumble, Kaneria, Harbajan, McGrath, Clark, etc and he looks like he knows his game already. I believe he is better than Butt.

you can do that, but its not true the 5-0 team was far better
