World's most Over-rated and Under-rated player!

We shall see. Flintoff, Harmison and Hoggard is already a decent (if not quite blindingly impressive) combination. Strauss, Thorpe and Flintoff all had quite good 2004's. Trescothick scored a 1000 runs, Vaughan had 3 centuries. Key and Bell made good use of their time in the middle too. Then there's that Pietersen fellow who looks certain to break in to the Test squad soon. Noone in their right mind has been saying they're the best team, but saying they could give Australia a run for their money in the Ashes, at home, is a fair statement.

Yes i agree Shoaib is overrated. I also think Tendulkar has passed his used by date. He's past his use by date. I think Andrew Flintoff is also seriously over rated

Shoaib may be over-rated. But what are u sayin abt Tendulkar is not understandable. if you are saying that he is overrated then go to www.dictionary.com and look for the meaning of the word, coz even if Tendulkar doesn't score a single more run in the rest of his career still he wouldn't be overrated. But saying that is as good as saying that armageddon will befall us after an hour. Flintoff - overrated. No way. He is very good and the effect he can have on the English audience was visible last season and will be evident this time around too.

Underrated: Cameron White.
Bugger Tait. White is the next best thing in Australian cricket!

Scores runs, takes wickets, wins matches. What's to overrate about that?
If you're taking Flintoff on basic career stats, you need to look further.

In Tests,
from 1998 to 2002 (In his first 12 matches) he scored 259 runs averaging 13.6. Also, he took just 13 wickets at an average of 44.2. Since the start of 2002, he has scored 1980 runs at an average of 39.6 and taken 97 wickets at an average of 33.55.

In ODIs,
He averages 23.98, with the ball. He is a desirable player for that alone. That he can score runs at all makes him essential. In fact, from 2003 and 2004 he scored 1264 runs at an average of 50.56 and took 46 wickets at an average of 19.54. In addition to all this he has 11 ODI Man of the Match awards to his name.

Whatever be the case I think no one here disaagrees that Poms are an overreted unit but for Gough

still beat your lot last time round in the icc trophy :D

under rated - Brett Lee, Matthew Hayden (tall poppy sindrome, as soon as the best batsmen in the world starts to play bad, all hell rains down on him) and Cameron White.

Over rated - Stuart Macgill (there is a reason that he isnt in the test team, WARNE, so im sick of comentators saying how warne could be dropped for this fool when he gits more wickets than Warnie), Michael Kasprowicz (No real reason, I just dont like him)

I think you'll find your wrong again there. I'm not going to bother continuing this 'debate' with someone who quite obviously doesn't know all the facts and doesn't bother to look them up. Its quite easy really, go to cricinfo.com if you want stats etc.

Could your name being 'b.lee' be part of the reason? :p

Under-rated: Stuart MacGill
Performs every time he gets an opportunity, but yet still nobody rates him

Over rated: Cameron White
Average batsman, can't bowl, and probably the only state captain that would struggle to get a place in some of the other domestic teams

Could there be a case for having both Warne and MacGill in the same XI more often?
I've always been a fan of having two spinners in a team, but I think they have to be two different bowling styles, otherwise they don't usually operate well in tandem.

True, I think I saw a statistic on cricinfo a while back saying that when MacGill and Warne play in the same team, MacGill out performs Warne more often than not. I could be well off the mark ofcourse!
