Delhi Capitals maintained a chokehold over Chennai Super Kings for the majority of the innings, despite a stubborn fightback from skipper Shreyas Iyer. A below-par score, even for a grassy turf, but can Chennai pull a rabbit out of the hat and defend 211 against the 'juggernaut' of this competition?

Ravichandran Ashwin and Rashid Khan squeeze 12 runs off of Anrich Nortje's final over!

So far, both batters have put up an incredible amount of resilience. Especially for the latter's reputation. Both batters scored their first boundaries of the game in the previous over, scoring runs in only singles, doubles and threes. And they've still managed to get gather nearly fifty runs between themselves.

...make that one!!! Pat Cummins is bounced out by Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who may have just delivered the single biggest over of the tournament. A much-needed wicket for Chennai, especially considering Pat Cummins' recent outings with the bat at the IPL. But Bhuvneshwar Kumar has put Chennai in the position where they need only one more wicket to win, and Delhi has their No. 11 out on the crease.

All of Chennai and all of Rajasthan's hopes and dreams now rely... on Krishnappa Gowtham.

KKR sucks but did Rajasthan win the title? No #MoralVictory #DelhiRoars #RajasthanCries

Ah well we just did not have it in our hands so cannot do much about it. As I said, if Delhi win they deserve to win the league. Congrats Delhi! Thanks to @Na Maloom Afraad for a wonderful league. My alltime favorite. Been a wonderful 3 seasons. Thanks to @Life Warrior for being a superb co manager.

I would also like to announce that I will no longer be a Rajasthan manager from now on. All yours @Life Warrior

Signing off!

Congrats to Delhi to winning and Rajasthan for being good enough to keep this competitive throughout

Amazing league NMA, you've set the standard for me and everyone else to try and match.

I'm really happy with our run this time, hopefully we go a few steps ahead next season

CHAMPIONSHIP CONFERMENT CEREMONY

New team introductions, old team retentions, player retentions, a batshit crazy attempt at a Mega Auction (on PC), an actually successful attempt at a Mega Auction (Discord), a complete double round-robin/90-game league season, statistics calculation for ten teams, multiple injuries, multiple hiatuses, multiple managerial changes in-between...

...and five months later, we finally have our Indian One-Day Champions for 2022!

Welcome one and welcome all, to the 2022 Indian One-Day Championship Conferment Ceremony!

I am delighted everyone has joined us here to celebrate the best of the best in Indian cricket, and in world cricket today. But before we get to the big moment of the night, we also have several other awards to present. Starting with one of the bigger ones... the leading wicket-taker of the season award.

LEADING WICKET-TAKER OF THE SEASON

For the third successive year, Shaheen Afridi from Rajasthan Royals finishes as the highest wicket-taker of the season with 39 scalps to his name. Two more than Jasprit Bumrah (second highest wicket-getter) and four more than Kuldeep Yadav (third highest wicket-getter).

eQu76yN.png

And now, we move onto the award given out to the highest run-getter of the season...

LEADING RUN-SCORER OF THE SEASON

In his first season playing for the newly introduced Lucknow Super Giants, Suryakumar Yadav finished as the highest run-scorer of the tournament with 1060 runs in 18 only innings. He was very nearly toppled by Rajasthan Royals' Shubman Gill, who finished his season with 1040 runs in as many innings. Delhi Capitals' maestro batter, Joe Root was the third-highest run-getter with a tally of 980 runs, also from just as many innings (18) as the other two.

...for having such an extraordinary season, especially for a side that finished seventh, Suryakumar Yadav has also been adjudged as the...

PLAYER OF THE SEASON

For the first time in the league's short, but fabled history, Virat Kohli is not the recipient for the Player of the Season award. Instead of him, it is being bestowed upon someone many consider as his 'successor', the leading run-scorer of the season, Suryakumar Yadav.
