Story (05)A coach,2005 and beyond

The match is looking in balance.. Those two - Hayden and Martyn are damn good test players. I have a feeling that SA are going to have a real hunt in getting these players out :p Lets see

2nd Test vs. Australia,Fourth Day:
Forecast:
Sunny, but with clouds later on today.

Pitch:
The pitch is starting to spin now,Warne would have been a big hassle in the fourth innings.Lucky me.

Game:
Ntini and Terbrugge were given the ball to start the days play.
Ntini didn't impress with his first over,Hayden having no trouble hitting it for 3 runs,Martyn playing back up.
Terbrugge didn't start well either,Martyn hit the first ball for a single, then 2 dot balls, the Hayden hits 4 and 1.
Last ball improves my outlook for today.3/115.

Damien Martyn, bowled Terbrugge for 39 from 57 deliveries with 6 fours.

Katich joins Hayden, and they proceed to plough into the SAffer attack.
Katich just defending,Hayden smashing the bowlers arround.
Katich didn't like Nel's introduction into the attack, and Hayden struggled with Pollock.
LOL,I just reallised I started three lines with Katich!!!
Some time later, with lots of play and misses by Katich and Hayden.
Katich finally is good enough to put bat to ball!!!4/162.

Simon Katich, caught Smith bowled Nel for 15 from 61 deliveries with 2 fours.

Gilly now comes in,two balls left in Nel's over......
And both balls go screaming to the boundary!!!
Hayden joins the hunt, but the reinclusion of Ntini into the attack quietens him up.....for good!5/180.

Matthew Hayden, caught & bowled Ntini for 96 from 219 deliveries with 12 fours and 1 six.

Hodge comes in now.
Ntini can't make another break, and Kallis hasn't looked threatening yet,Lunch.

Lunch Break,SAfrica 5/186:
Gilchrist 7
Hodge 2
Terbrugge 2/35
Nel 2/53

Gilly immediattely continues his attack against Ntini, but Terbrugge is given the ball down the other end,and that's a masterstroke.6/197.

Brad Hodge, caught & bowled Terbrugge for 9 from 26 deliveries.

The new ball is taken, and Gilly slows down very quickly, but Lee takes no notice,a wild swing here,a missed slog there, they don't matter do they?:p
Soon after wards,Gilly pays the price of one too many slogs from Lee,and from a bad call by Lee as well.7/218.

Adam Gilchrist,run out(Gibbs) for 28 from 50 deliveries with 4 fours.

We knew that the tail without Warne wasn't much chop except for Lee.
So we started trying to get Kasper on strike so we could bowl them out.
It didn't quite work as planned, but I'm even happier now.8/225.

Brett Lee,caught Boucher bowled Pollock for 12 from 39 deliveries with 2 fours.

Now the rest.9/225.

Micheal Kasprowicz, lbw Nel for 5 from 19 deliveries.

A little later it was finished.238.

Glenn McGrath, lbw Duminy for 6 from 14 deliveries with 1 four.

The last over before tea was easily natigated.

Tea Break,SAfrica 0/2:
Smith 2
Gibbs 0
Lee 0/2

Smith and Gibbs started in fine style, with both batsman cutting and pulling anything a little short.
The drives were fluant, the glances effortless, the sweeps a bit latter against Katich were elegant.....I think I'm getting a bit carried away here!!!
The fist chance was a googly from Katich almost had Smith LBW!
The next highlight in the match, apart from the constant flow of boundaries, was a milestone.

Herschelle Gibbs,50* from 96 deliveries.

Smith's speed down the other end was more impressive.

Greame Smith,50* from 76 deliveries.

Soon afterwards Smith was run out by the bearest of millimetres thanks to Lee's strong arm.1/117.

Greame Smith,run out(Lee) for 57 from 83 deliveries with 7 fours.

Stumps beat us,with only 12 runs needed tomorrow, this is an easy win.

Stumps,SAfrica 1/128:
Gibbs 59
Kallis 7
McGrath 0/11
Katich 0/18

Fantastic batting is going to give you an easy win after some good bowling, Hayden being the only real resistance. Hopefully you can win it without any more wickets, as its only 12 more runs.

Great consistent stuff mate but perhaps you should spellcheck your work, there are a few spelling mistakes.

I'm going to be using Microsoft Word after this test, and it has an automatic spell checker.

What do you mean?
I have one more update in this test match, and after that I'm using Word.

Its is SA's score at stumps ;) Scoring showing Aussies :) SA have come up very strong. Well played. It would have been nice if even in real life, SA had won the first test match :p

2nd Test vs. Australia,Fifth Day:
Forecast:
Very cloudy.

Pitch:
Horrible pitch now,I'm not sure I would have been able to chase down 100+ on the last day with 9 batsman.

Game:
Gibbs easily lead the way home for an easy win, what is there to write about?

Ricky Ponting(c)
Damien Martyn
Simon Katich
Adam Gilchrist(wk)(vc)
Micheal Clarke
Brett Lee
Shane Warne
Jason Gillespie
Glenn McGrath

Changes:
Warne and Clarke reenter the team.

Pitch:
This MCG pitch is slower and spinier then the usual one.

Toss:
Smith wins the toss again, but this time we’ll bat, the pitch is set to deteriorate later on in the match, and I’d love to be bowling when that happens.

Game:
Gibbs strolling down the wicket and smashing the third ball of the first over for four marked the start of play, and that was the first one to be bowled to him!
Despite a rather risky and aggressive start, Gibbs and Smith quickly settled into a more patient routine.
McGrath’s first over was far from exemplary with it going for 8 runs.
Warne also didn’t have the desired start to his first spell, except he only went for 7 runs! :p
The 50 partnership was forthcoming, with only a lbw appeal to wobble the openers.
However, Smith decided after pushing the score to 50 to attack, and Warne was the brunt of a couple of deadly cuts.
McGrath showed his accuracy with consecutive maidens to make sure that Gibbs didn’t join his partner on rampage.
With just a short time until lunch Smith brought up a 50, which had the fielders on their toes throughout.

Graeme Smith, 50* from 81 deliveries.

A few seconds later a flurry from Gibbs saw him reach the same milestone with a massive six!

Herschelle Gibbs, 53* from 95 deliveries.

Lunch was very quick, but Gibbs smashed quite a few more runs before it was reached.

Lunch Break, SAfrica 0/126:
Smith 55
Gibbs 66
Katich 0/3
Martyn 0/13

The cautious approach came again, and Gillespie took advantage of it.1/147.

Graeme Smith, caught Clarke bowled Gillespie for 65 from 107 deliveries with 3 fours.

Kallis ‘the slug’ managed to stop anyone else from falling as Gibbs attacked.
The runs continued to flow, as Gibbs reached his 16th test hundred.

Herschelle Gibbs, 100* from 159 deliveries.

With that achieved the Saffers continued in like fashion.
Warne and McGrath had no effect, with Gibbs constantly moving about his crease to confound Warnie.
A 50 partnership between Kallis and Gibbs was reached with Gibbs dominating, then followed by tea.

Tea Break, SAfrica 1/215:
Gibbs 116
Kallis 27
Gillespie 1/53
Martyn 0/13

Lee’s opening over after tea managed to find Gibbs pads, but the unsuccessful lbw appeal didn’t dent the visitors.
Gibbs replied next ball with a massive pull over mid-wicket for six.
Kallis managed to attack enough to bring 27 from 70-odd balls, to this:

Jaques Kallis, 53* from 103 deliveries.

Play proceeded much as before, until Warne finally broke the spell.2/276.

Herschelle Gibbs, caught Katich bowled Warne for 143 from 240 deliveries with 14 fours and 2 sixes.

And being the great legend that he is, Warne took another.3/276.

Neil McKenzie, lbw Warne for 0 from 3 deliveries.

Duminy put the team back on line.
Kallis continued on his merry way, with Duminy adding flair to the batting.
Australia was not to be impeded and Gillespie managed to strike again.4/329.

Jean-Paul Duminy, caught Ponting bowled Gillespie for 24 from 41 deliveries with 3 fours.

And then Prince falls to Gillespie.5/333.

Ashwell Prince, bowled Gillespie for 3 from 7 deliveries.

But to make up for it, Kallis reached his hundred.
The 23rd one, and this one just at the right time.

Jaques Kallis, 101* from 146 deliveries.

And then, stumps.

Stumps, SAfrica 5/372:
Kallis 108
Boucher 18
Gillespie 3/81
Warne 2/77
