Story (05)A coach,2005 and beyond

Smith, Gibbs and Kallis have had a magical start for South Africa and you can get nearly 500 at this rate. Some very good batting.

Loving this story mate, my vote in SOTM was for this story.

3rd Test vs. Australia, Second Day:

Pitch:
Very flat, this is going to be a long day for both of us

Forecast:
Cloudy to start, but getting brighter as the day goes on.

Game:
Kallis and Boucher were to continue from last night.
Kallis started well, driving Lee for 2 fours.
Lee however got his own back, but it was Boucher he bowled.6/391.

Mark Boucher, bowled Lee for 21 from 69 deliveries with 1 four.

Pollock helped Kallis boost them past 400.
Warne, McGrath and Katich were brought on then, Katich being hit out of the attack quick enough, giving the ball to Warne.
Both of the Aussie legend bowlers had Kallis dropped at second slip!
With the runs being piled on, Warne had to try something.
So he bowled a full toss, which caught Kallis by surprise.7/425.

Jaques Kallis, lbw Warne for 137 from 235 deliveries with 16 fours.

Nel came out, and the reentry of Katich into the attack only served to give Lee the ball quickly, and allow Nel to actually get runs!
Anyway, they then went to lunch.

Lunch Break, SAfrica 7/456:
Pollock 29
Nel 13
Gillespie 3/86
Warne 3/94

The Pollock, Nel combination slowed the run rate down, but the runs steadily flowed nonetheless.
It was soon after, about an hour into the second session when another batsman finally lost his wicket.8/479.

Andre Nel, caught Langer bowled Warne for 20 from 64 with 2 fours.

Ntini joined the slow batting display, and livened it up with some wild slogs which were interesting to watch, because one would go bang over the bowlers head, the next could go edged over the keepers head!
Pollock achieved something on his own down the other end.

Shaun Pollock, 50* from 118 deliveries.

Back to Ntini, Warne had him outthought in just a little while.8/502.

Makhaya Ntini, bowled Warne for 19 from 22 deliveries with 3 fours.

And that was Warney’s five-fer.

Shane Warne, 41.2-10-114-5.

And soon afterwards, he got Terbrugge too.522.

David Terbrugge, caught Ponting bowled Warne for 4 from 22 deliveries.

The Aussies needed a good start if the wanted to keep themselves in this match.
We don’t know about that, but the didn’t lose a wicket in the first 2 overs!!

Tea Break, Australia 0/8:
Hayden 3
Langer 5
Nel 0/3
Terbrugge 0/5

The bowling was absolutely assaulted after tea!!!
Langer and Hayden smash all the bowlers around the park.
The first chance was Langer knicking it wide of the slips to reach 50.

Justin Langer, 50* from 86 deliveries.

Next over Hayden joined in.

Matthew Hayden, 51* from 72 deliveries.

The continued on, but not at the pace they were going.
Stumps were reached without any other chances.

Stumps, Australia 0/121:
Hayden 58
Langer 57
Duminy 0/4
Kallis 0/6

Looks like this could go all the way to a draw. Immense batting by your top three but it seems Australia are going to reinact your top three. Hopefully you can get some wickets tomorrow.

Great story.

Great start to the batting, not so much the bowling.Hayden and Langer are showing why they are a deadly opening partnership. However, the match is still in your hands. I few early wickets tomorrow and you'll really be on top.

3rd Test vs. Australia, Third Day:

Pitch:
Just starting to crack up, but still very flat.

Forecast:
A few sparse clouds throughout the day.

Game:
Hayden and Langer continued from the day before, piling on the runs.
With no bowler having effect, the 150 partnership was brought up.
The toll it was having on the Saffer bowlers showed.23rd test hundred up for Hayden.

Matthew Hayden, 101* from 157 deliveries.

Again the milestones were an over apart. Langer’s hundred was also his 23rd test hundred!!!

Justin Langer, 100* from 181 deliveries.

Then Nel had Langer edge three times, all of them going to the ground before fielders.
Lunch break was then achieved, Australia 100% on the front foot now.

Lunch Break, Australia 0/240:
Hayden 119
Langer 106
Duminy 0/24
Kallis 0/26

Hayden marked the start of a new session with 4,4,2 and then three dots to take ten of the over.
Langer’s start to a new session wasn’t so bright; it helped cheer me up immensely, now if only we can get Ponting quickly.1/250.

Justin Langer, caught Smith bowled Ntini for 106 from 209 deliveries with 16 fours.

I didn’t get Ponting quickly, thanks largely to Gibbs dropping him twice and Boucher dropping him once.
However Hayden got what he wanted!

Matthew Hayden, 150* from 228 deliveries.

The new ball was taken and given to Nel, which worked utterly.2/300.

Ricky Ponting, bowled Nel for 27 from 57 deliveries with 3 fours.

Nel’s on a roll!!3/310.

Damian Martyn, caught Pollock bowled Nel for 9 from 13 deliveries with 1 four.

And again!4/312.

Simon Katich, caught Boucher bowled Nel for 1 from 11 deliveries

However, Terbrugge go the important wicket.5/315.

Matthew Hayden, caught Boucher bowled Terbrugge for 152 from 247 deliveries with 23 fours.

Terbrugge was on a roll now.6/325.

Micheal Clarke, caught Smith bowled Terbrugge for 7 from 14 deliveries with 1 four.

What a collapse!!!!!
A pity they’ve already passed the chance of a follow-on! 7/327.

Brett Lee, lbw Terbrugge for 2 from 10 deliveries.

Nel finally breaks back in on the wickets.8/332.

Shane Warne, bowled Nel for 3 from 8 deliveries.

And then he gets his five-fer.9/337

Jason Gillespie, caught Pollock bowled Nel for 0 from 11 deliveries.

Andre Nel, 25.5-6-72-5.

Despite all this, Gilly was still at the other end!!
He managed to keep the innings alive till tea.

Tea Break, Australia 9/371:
Gilchrist 35
Kallis 7
Nel 5/76
Terbrugge 3/61

And add some runs while shielding McGrath, still an effective collapse.374.

Glenn McGrath, caught Boucher bowled Pollock for 7 from 31 with 1 four.

I have a lead of 148; lets see what kind of total the Saffers can post.
However, Lee’s pace completely changed the look of the game on the rather up and down now pitch.1/0.

Graeme Smith, caught Ponting bowled Lee for 0 from 4 deliveries.

Lee struck again!2/4.

Jacques Kallis, bowled Lee for 2 from 14 deliveries.

Now McKenzie and Gibbs, come on, someone last!!!
Noooooooooo!!!!3/8.

Herschelle Gibbs, caught Gilchrist bowled Gillespie for 4 from 15 deliveries with 1 four.

McKenzie and Duminy managed to scrabble through to stumps with the help of rain.

Stumps, SAfrica 3/34:
McKenzie12
Duminy 10
Lee 2/10
Gillespie 1/9

These two batsmen need a big partnership now. More than this story, the template which you follow really impresses me a lots. Neat work :hpraise

3rd Test vs. Australia, Fourth Day:

Pitch:
Starting to fizz.

Forecast:
Sunny again.

Game:
McKenzie and Duminy thoroughly broke the spell of last night and McKenzie reached 50 without trouble.

Neil McKenzie, 50* from 82 deliveries.

With this trend continuing, and Duminy striking two fours off Warne, SAfrica prospered.

Lunch Break, SAfrica 3/106:
McKenzie 61
Duminy 35
Lee 2/19
Gillespie 1/31

After lunch McKenzie started with a four to continue the stream of runs.
Duminy’s pace was a lot more sedate.
However, he still reached 50.

Jean-Paul Duminy, 50* from 123 deliveries.

Duminy followed it up with a cut for four.
They then got the 150 run partnership.
Warne finally induced a moment of doubt, when he got one to viscously turn and beat McKenzie’s bat.
McKenzie steadied, but Duminy fell.4/172.

Jean-Paul Duminy, caught & bowled Warne for 66 from 157 deliveries with 6 fours.

Prince came in next to try and continue the push.
McKenzie pushed very hard for his hundred, and achieved his 4th test hundred and his second this year.

Neil McKenzie, 103* from 163 deliveries.

However, leading up to the tea break, Prince lost his wicket.5/208.

Ashwell Prince, caught Gilchrist bowled Gillespie for 13 from 27 deliveries.

Katich was suddenly put into the attack as a surprise move by Ponting.
It worked all too well with McKenzie taking swipes at almost every ball!!!6/212.

Neil McKenzie, caught Gilchrist bowled Katich for 110 from 180 deliveries with 12 fours.

However, tea was achieved by Pollock and Boucher.

Tea Break, SAfrica 6/222:
Boucher 9
Pollock 5
Lee 2/33
Gillespie 2/46

After tea there were some pretty sloppy attempts at running, and Pollock almost had to take the trip to the pavilion twice!!!
Boucher then faced up to the leading bowler for Aus, Brett Lee!
First two balls were yorkers, defended by Boucher.
The next one was an inswinger, which beat Boucher and rapped him on the pad, but it was going down leg.
A length ball followed which beat the bat, and then another one, which also beat the bat.
The last ball of this terrifying over was a fast straight one which pegged middle stump back!!!!
Boucher threw his head back in frustration, only to see the umpire’s arm out vertical, not horizontal!!!!
It was a no ball!!!!!!!
When the lead reached 400 then SAfrica declared.

Scorecard:

Bowling Card:

Then the opening bowlers came on with a very aggressive field, trying to pry out the wickets before stumps.
Alas it was not to be, and the final battle to decide who wins will play out on what should be a tense final day!

Stumps, Australia 0/34:
Hayden 23
Langer 8
Pollock 0/14
Terbrugge 0/20

Well, you have got yourself in a great position here, seems the only result can be a Draw or a Saffie Win. Hoping for the later!

I would love to see SA win here :p Anyways lets see..

Looking forward to the last day of the Test, which will determine a winner, if there is one. My moneys on the Saffers snatching it in the last session. Hayden and Langers early wickets must be taken, however.

Good consistent presentation.

Haven't had enough time to get back to this,I'll PM Jaz to lock it until I have time.
