Pitch, Weather, Line-Ups and Toss

RB: Hello and welcome once again to the Adelaide Oval where two bitter rivals will lock horns, Australia vs England. Slightly less than 6 months ago we witnessed a game here between the two sides that will be talked about for a long time - I am talking about the second Ashes Test Match that was played here. I am joined here by Bill Lawry and Mark Nicholas. Bill, do you think that the events of that Ashes test match will play harp on the English players minds?

BL: Oh definetly Rich. Australia are such a tough side physically and mentally I am sure the Australian players will tap that into the English team.

MN: I don't know what you are talking about Bill. That will more that six months ago. I am sure the England players have put that behind them, plus there a lol of different players compared to the Ashes test matches so I don't think it will play a role at all.

BL: Are you stupid Mark? That is something the English players will always remember. You don't easily forget a 5-0 drubbing do you?

*Mark and Bill get out from there chairs and have a bit of a tussle. Richie quickly intervenes before anyone gets hurts*.

RB: Alright that is enough you two. We are in a professnial bussiness here on television. We can't have you two fools stuffing up. Mark is aloud to have his opinion and I think it is a very valid one and Bill, stop being so biased towards Australia. Ok, let's go down to Tony Grieg with the pitch report.

Tony's Pitch Report

TG: Thank you very much Rich. As you can see it is a nice, bright sunny day. Very good weather to play cricket in. The temperature is around 26 degrees celsius so the players aren't going to get to exhausted out there. Now let's take a look at the pitch. It is really dry but because the game is a maxium of 20 overs it won't really grow and real crack into it. Spinners will be handy so maybe playing the two specialist spinners would be a good idea - or have the one part timer. I think you should elect to bat first because the pitch shouldn't crack or dry out much during the game - batting it a good batting pitch. I would say again the par score is around 80-95. Back to you Rich.

Conditions - Bat first get a good score

Line Ups:

RB: Lets go through the teams now, England first:

And now for Australia:

RB: We can tell you that England has won the toss and has elected to bat first. Don't go away, we will be back after this short ad break.

England Collapses

RB: Welcome back. We have just witnessed something marvellous by the Australian team, bowling out arch rivals England for a meagre 48. Matthew Prior was the top scorer with 18 and Shaun Tait was the pick of the bowlers with 4/4 off his two overs. Once again I am joined by, Bill Lawry, Tony Grieg and Mark Nicholas. I hope you two have settled down *points at Bill and Mark and Tony and Richie have a bit of a chuckle* First up Mark, how did you view England's batting performance?

MN: Poor. They played the wrong shots at the wrong time, for example Pietersen's wicket and some of the dissmals were really soft. Also there timing wasn't the best idea.

TG: Yes Mark and Rich. England were very poor, no one stood up to the Australian attack except Prior who perished at the end anyway. One thing I would like to comment on is the Australian fielding. They took 10 catches and didn't drop one. A truly marvellous effort.

BL: If they weren't scared from the Adelaide Oval enough. That was truely shocking stuff from the English. Though full credit to the Australians they bowled marvelously.

RB: Let's take a look at some of the scorecards from the innings:

Strauss shows the kids how to play the shot and for his troubles gets hit in his privates. Nicely bowled Bracken!

Gilchrist catches Pietersen and by the Australians reactions they are very happy about it

RB: We will be back after this short break to see if Australia can chase down 49 runs at a rate of 4.9 runs per over.

Crap score from England there!
Brilliant bowling from Tait,Clarke and Lee

Tait was destructive as ever... thats incredible bowling

Australian Wins By 9 Wickets

RB: Well, what a performance by this marvellous Australian side. Defeating England by 9 wickets. Gilchrist and Ponting remained not out with Hayden the only wicket to fall. I am joined by Bill Lawry and Tony Grieg. That was some performance by the Australians wasn't it?

TG: Yes, you are quite right Rich. They really wanted to get on top of the England bowlers and they did that right from the word 'go'. I would be really worried if I was the England coach. Batting and bowling definetly weren't up to international standards today.

BL: You said it perfectly Tony. England just couldn't stand the pressure that the Australians put on them. Australia throughly deserved the win

RB: Thanks for your comment Bill and Tony. As usual let's take a look at the scorecards and some inning higlights

Gilchrist hits another six off the bowling off Hoggard

RB: A throughly convincing win for Australia. Let's go down to Mark Nicholas for the match presentation.

Match Presentation

MN: Thank you very much Richie. Another thoroughly dominant display by this Australian side. First I would like to call upon England captain Michael Vaughan. Michael, you didn't perform well today. You must be dissapointed with that.

MV: Oh defienetly. You always want to play well and win cricket matches but today we came off second best by a long shot. We certainly didn't put our best effort in today.

MN: Do you think you will make the finals now?

MV: Well our next game is against Australia, which I am pretty sure we have to win to stay in the hunt for the finals and then we play against South Africa again. I think it will be hard to do but I think we can get into the finals.

MN: Thank you very much Michael. Now I would like to call upon the Australian captain Ricky Ponting. Ricky, your team played well today didn't they.

RP: I think we played very good. We took ten catches which is a great improvement since last time as we dropped three against the South African team. Our bowling was just great today and our batting just finishied it off.

MN: Are you dissapointed you didn't put yourself on too bowl.

RP: Yeah a bit. The main thing is that we won in the end. Just seeing the whole team perform was great.

MN: Thank you Ricky. Now I would like to call upon today's man of the match, Shaun Tait. Shaun, you must of have been pleased with your four wickets today.

ST: Oh definetly. Getting a four-a-fa anywhere is great but to get it with only be allowed to bowl two overs makes it even more special.

MN: You have been expensive in the past two games. Today you only gave away four runs. Why do you think you were so economical?

ST: I dunno. I just put it in the blockhole. It just makes it so much harder to hit when it is bowled there. It was also great picking up wickets as well as keeping the runs down.

MN: Ladies and Gentlemen, today's man of the match Shaun Tait. Back to you Rich.

RB: Thank you very much Mark. Tait deservedly get the man of the match award. Now let's take a look at the table so far:

RB: Australia are way in front on 17 points with 2 bonus points they have recieved. South Africa are on 6 points playing 3 games and England are on 1 having played 2 games. We hope you have enjoyed our coverage of today's game between Australia and England at the Adelaide Oval, we hope you tune in next time to see Australia take on England again but this time at the Bellerive Oval. Goodbye for now!
