1st Ashes Test Match - Reduced Skills. Full Playtest.

Zim 189/3 - Sibanda caught by Rogers at Mid on driving Nathan Lyon.

Apart from with Lyon I don't look anywhere near a wicket. Almost as if all the luck i had earlier was because it was overcast? The bats look wide and nothing has been edged off the seamers, despite being even weaker than Wealey's teams.

I'm taking a new ball every 10 overs which evidently doesn't work as suggested earlier I think.

How often do you shine the ball? I did it every 2-3 balls with the seamers and not once with the spinners. Also how low did you make the skills? You could be having the tailender effect...

They're on a few points for each skill, and one for off and on side. I shine the ball a couple of times an over.

Do you think that as you go down to zero the batsmen actually get better? This would explain the effect! I thought the tailender bug was due to their batting position, not their skills.

What fields you fellas using? I find mine to have worked really well going at about 3.5 an over.

I have a point a man at extra cover. Third man. And 3 slips. Mid on and fine leg.

The game in the covers and at mid off encourages the drive. However they still find it hard to pierce the gap!!

Yeah I'm using pretty much the same. Had them 39/5 one game and 200/3 the next!

Try keeping the runs down, as soon as my guys went under 3.00 they started trying to bat more agressively...

80 Overs in and the bowlers have packed up and gone home. 900 hours in and I have absolutely no idea what's going on in this game :)

That is feast or famine really. I don't believe any team rated so low should take the Australian quicks for 161 without getting an edge. Perhaps I'm too critical but they're rated terribly and at no stage did anyone even look like getting out. Perhaps cloud cover dictates the result of everything.

Yeah i get that.

But getting realistic gameplay was out first objective which is hard enough.

Your striving for that step further looking for realistic gameplay plus differentiation between teams.

Which i dont think your going to get. As for some reason.

Although i do get tailenders to play rubbishly.

So why cant 1-6 play as rubbishly haha

However, saying that pre all these patches i was rolling teams rated low for 70-180.

Me and @funnyadit had a couple of games on these skills online Co op against AI t20 same sussex grassy hard cracked on PRO first

the game played out really well we got only 2 wkts but there were plenty of close chances, due to it being t20 didnt post a slip and there was like 3 -4 edges i think that actually flew well too.

There were a couple of stumping chances, an actual mixup between AI runners. some close LBW calls.

But to me the most was AI shot selection and batting was organic it looked like they were actually trying. There was also less leaves somehow towards the end overs compared to on legend or normal teams which was really good to see in t20 and they were trying to get as many as possible.

They scored 145-2 was a pretty good score for the pitch may be less wkts but we really had chances that if taken the tally may have been different.

tbh the batting held up really good than i expected in t20.

But then batting we finished it of in 12 overs that's despite fooling-around slowly for the first 5 overs.

Next we Bumped up to legend to see how it plays same conditions team . The way it plays itself totally changes it still posted something around 150+ for couple of wkts but it was sort of clinical didnt seem to play the proper shots for the deliveries etc. Had just one edge the first ball which was a no ball but nothing else.

To me not even the wkt chances but the way it plays itself is totally different the character it has in pro of judging and playing accordingly to the batsman's skill seems to disappear here.

I played a few parts of games last night and had a real mixed bag due to fiddling with attributes each time. One game I had the team at 67-6 off 35 overs (hard, green, sunny) while another (hard, pristine, sunny) was at 90-2 off 30. Some great edges and some not so great cheap wickets from being lazy and not moving either mid-on or off. One thing was quite apparent and consistent throughout. The number 3 batsman was the only one whose BF/FF was set at 10 and it was noticeable how more often he played flat-bat shots to straight balls even edging one into the stumps on one occasion compared to the others. I have noticed for a few weeks now how batsmen set to 9 for BF/FF have more often than not been the stand-out performers so because of this I would now recommend not setting BF/FF above 9.

I only had time to play 20 overs after making this change and the number 3 was called straight into action after one of the openers edged the very first ball to the keeper. So I tested him with a few yorkers which resulted in either blocks or drives. Hopefully it will remain that way and more importantly that I can find the time over the weekend to play some more.

It would be interesting to know if other people have noticed a similar pattern?

You could be onto something there. I posted recently about the outcome when I put all the batting skills for the first 5 Afghan batsmen to zero....and they managed to knock up 80 runs before I took the fifth wicket. I expected to knock them over no problem....the outcome surprised me!

80-5 isn't exactly good though is it! But as we have been saying all along the batting attributes are overpowered, this is nothing new and to answer the question setting them to zero does not make them better.

So England 214-4. Lyth trapped LBW by a Roach yorker, Narine picked up Bairstow with a good delivery edged to Ramdin, Samuels got Root with an excellent slower delivery c & b and then load shedding... Power out, game doesnt save... I give up! Great game cant wait for DBC16...
