1st PS3 T20 Champions Trophy- Completed

Ill be on from about 10pm UK time for a few hours. Hope to get atleast one more game in tonight.

RIZZYX added 6 Minutes and 10 Seconds later...

In addition to Rizzy's note on the match, scorecards are attached.

Since I couldn't put bat to ball against Shoaib, I'd sent in my tail ahead of 3 specialist batsman.

Very Tactical move that made the difference in the game, if you had been 33/8 with only the tail to come it would have been a whole different story. I must say you bowld pretty well to defend the total at Harere.

Was a good game though, look forward to the return match.

Group B Match 7 Eng Vs Ind at Lords

Group B Match 7 England (lonewolf5646) vs India (lilas11)
Venue: Lords (Hosted by England)
Toss: India won elected to bowl
England 80 all out in 14.2
M Panesar 49(29)
A Flintoff 9(12)
Z Khan 4/3(3.0)
L Balaji 2/7(2.0)
V Sewag 2/17(2.2)

India 82/5 in 13.5 overs
V Sewag 32(49)
S Raina 31*(22)
S Board 2/22(4.0)
J Anderson 1/26(4.0)
Result: India won by 5 wickets
Points: IND=3 ENG=0

Match Report: India started well picking up wickets at regular intervals and keeping a check on the run rate. After 6 overs England were 24/4 with most of their top order gone. England sent in Panesar and Board ahead of distinguished batsmen to which India responded with introducing spin. Panesar and Board took a liking to the spinner scoring 12 in the first over but the spinners hit back taking 2 wickets giving a total of only 27 runs in 3.2 overs.
Chasing a small total India started cautiously after losing the wicket of laxman run out 2nd ball of the innings. Some great bowling and great fields by England lead the batsmen going into their shells after 8 overs the score was 30/1. With all the fielders inside the circle and lonewolf bowling tight lines the only way it seemed India could score was to take the aerial route they took their chances and scored 52 runs for 4 wickets in the next 5.5 overs finishing the game in the 14th over with the spinners yet to arrive.

MOM Sewagh for his 2 wickets and 32 runs.

Great bowling and fields lonewolf.. The modest 80 seemed like a competitive 180 at one time.. glad i could scrap through it in the end.

Was a good game though, look forward to the return match.

Mate, I'm going to be around for the next few hours. Will ping you if I see you online.

All, I'm going to be away Fri - Mon, so hoping to get a game or two in today. In any case, don't think I'll be holding the tourney up as there's still plenty matches to be played in Group A.

Group A Match 7 New Zealand (ThandaMilk) vs Pakistan (RIZZYX)

Venue: Auckland (Hosted by New Zealand)

Toss: New Zealand won and elected to bowl

Pakistan 176/9
S Butt 62 (34)
S Khan/Alhasan? 40
S Afridi 28*(15)

New Zealand 139/10 in 15.2 overs
J Oram 57 (28)
A Rauf 6/34 (4 Overs)

Result: Pakistan won by 37 Runs
Points: Pak=3 NZ=0

Match Report: Being put in to bat on a testing Auckland wicket, Pakistan lost early wickets finding themselves struggling at 41/4, Salman Butt and Khan fought back with a a partnership of almost 100, once Khan went the platform was set to launch, but NZ had other plans in mind, they lifted their game and nailed Pakistan back again with a few more wickets, a final burst from Afridi blasting 28 from 15 balls ensured Pakistan posted a testing total of 176.

New Zealand started well playing aggressively, but lost regular wickets, as with the game against South Africa, Pakistan introduced spin after just 6 overs and it bought a breakthrough. Jacob Oram took them on smashing 6's and 4's until Afridi spun one back in to knock of his off stump. New Zealand were finally all out for 139.

MOM: A Rauf for his 6 wickets.

Final Words: Was a great game, New Zealand were in it all the way even when they were 9 down because there was still genuine batsman at the wicket.

Group A NZ vs Pak in Auckland

Rizzyx (Pak) & I (NZ) just completed our return match in Auckland, after the fascinating encounter in Harare.

Put into bat first, Pak didn't start well and were 40/4 within the powerplays. NZ were to rue a dropped catch of Salman Butt fairly early in his innings as he, along with Alhasan (who?) put together a brilliant 97 run partnership. At 137/4 around the 14 over mark, the two had created a perfect platform for a final assault. NZ seamers changed their length and bowled short, into the body stuff. Other than Afridi, who breezed 28 from 15, others found it difficult to negotiate the change in length. Pakistan ended with 176/9 from their 20.

NZ's batsmen went into the chase fresh from their recent spineless top order performance against a formidable Pakistan bowling attack. They started cautiously enough, but against some tight field placing and smart bowling, went from 18/0 to 25/4 and then 48/5. This, without Shoaib having been introduced into the attack.

Oram and Gillespie put together a partnership to raise NZ hopes, but some extremely clever field placements and wide of the stumps bowling by the spinners meant that NZ never got the momentum in the middle overs that they had hoped for.

At 129/7, NZ needed 48 from 40 and would've fancied their chances. Against the run of play, Afridi produced the ball of the match that drifted into Oram, spun a mile and hit top of off stump. Pak's medium pacer Rahif returned wipe out the remaining batsmen and finish with MoM worthy figures of 6/30 from his 5.

Again, a fantastic game. Congrats Rizzyx, loved playing the 2 games with you.

Good idea to take pics, I just quickly jott down what i can, but taking a pic from the phone would save all the hassle.

@ Jaynffc and Leftarmfast....may be we can arrange a time for our games?

I will be on from around 8pm UK time.

....Also a question regarding the NRR, does our run rate during batting affect this? or is it only affected by the amount of runs scored/conceded and amount of wickets lost/taken?

great game guys the group is very well poised with Thandamilk finishing 1-1 with RIZZYX and psymax78...

RIZZYX
NRR = (total number of runs scored/total number of over faced)-(total number of runs conceded/total number of over bowled)
However if a team is allout the number of overs are counted as 20.
For example
NRR for you in the game against Thandamilk is calculated as (176/20)-(139/20)
NRR for me in game against lonewolf is calculated as=(82/13.5)-(80/20)

Guys i ll be off for a week.. though I think there are still plenty of games left to be played and don't think I'll be holding up the tourney.

I was hoping someone can take the responsibility to maintain a post with all results so once I am back it is easier to update the points table and add the results to the first post.

I would be eagerly following tourney result online whenever possible.. Good luck all ..Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
